On the morning of June 12th, at the National Assembly building, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue delivered the opening speech at the session of the National Assembly Standing Committee (between the two sessions of the 5th Session of the 15th National Assembly). In the afternoon of the same day, the National Assembly Standing Committee continued to discuss the draft Resolution on allocating the list and capital for tasks and projects under the Program for Economic and Social Recovery and Development; allocating, adjusting, and supplementing the medium-term public investment plan using central government budget funds for the period 2021-2025 and allocating the 2023 central government budget investment plan for national target programs; and giving opinions on several major issues related to the explanation, acceptance, revision, and completion of the draft Law on Cooperatives (amended). On the morning of June 12th, in Hanoi, the Central Propaganda Department organized a national conference to assess the implementation of Conclusion No. 01-KL/TW of the Politburo of the 13th Party Congress on continuing to implement Directive No. 05-CT/TW "On promoting the study and emulation of Ho Chi Minh's thought, morality, and style." The conference was held in a hybrid format, combining in-person and online participation. On June 12th, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thanh Hoa province, in coordination with the General Department of Physical Education and Sports and the Vietnam Taekwondo Federation, organized the opening ceremony of the 2023 National Taekwondo Championship. Nearly 500 athletes and coaches from 36 provinces, cities, and sectors nationwide participated in this year's competition. According to Lieutenant General To An Xo, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Public Security, as of 11:30 AM on June 12th, police forces had arrested four more individuals involved in the armed attack on the People's Committee offices of Ea Tieu and Ea Ktur communes in Cu Kuin district, Dak Lak province, bringing the total number of arrested individuals to 26. Authorities seized several military weapons, including CKC rifles. The pursuit of the remaining fugitives will continue. On the morning of June 12th, the SAR 412 vessel of the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center in Da Nang (the Center) safely brought Nguyen Tien Sy, a crew member of the fishing vessel QNg 98064 TS, who was in distress while fishing in the waters of the Hoang Sa archipelago (Vietnam), back to Da Nang and handed him over to the relevant authorities as per regulations. On June 12th, the Criminal Police Department of Nghe An Provincial Police announced that they had dismantled a gambling ring operating under the form of lottery and betting with a total amount exceeding 20 billion VND, arresting 10 individuals involved. This gambling ring was led by three individuals residing in Thu Thuy Ward, Cua Lo Town: Hoang Ngoc Son (born in 1985), Nguyen Quoc Son (born in 1984), and Le Xuan Hanh (born in 1984). INTERNATIONAL

On June 12, Air Defender 2023 – the largest air exercise in the history of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) – began at Wunstorf Air Base, near Hannover, Germany. The exercise is scheduled to last until June 23, with participation from 25 countries, and Germany serving as the main training location and commanding force. A total of 10,000 troops and 250 aircraft are participating, with the United States contributing approximately 100 aircraft and Germany 70. The exercise aims to train the rapid deployment of air force reinforcements to Germany in the event of conflict, the recapture of occupied areas, and to train defensive and mutual support operations in the event of an armed attack against one or more NATO members. On June 12, Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) began trial operation of the system for discharging treated radioactive wastewater from the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant into the sea. In this trial operation plan, TEPCO is using clean water to test the operation of pumping systems and the handling capabilities in case of abnormalities. The trial is expected to be completed in the latter half of June, including inspection by the Japan Atomic Energy Regulation Committee. On June 12, Australian police were urgently investigating a serious bus accident that occurred the previous night in the town of Greta, Hunter region, in the southeastern part of New South Wales (NSW). The accident resulted in at least 10 fatalities and 25 injuries. According to police, initial investigations suggest the accident was likely caused by foggy weather, which hampered visibility.
