On June 12, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thanh Hoa province coordinated with the General Department of Sports and Physical Training and the Vietnam Taekwondo Federation to organize the opening ceremony of the 2023 National Taekwondo Championship. According to Lieutenant General To An Xo, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Public Security, by 11:30 a.m. on June 12, the police force had arrested four more subjects involved in the gun attack on the headquarters of the People's Committee of Ea Tieu and Ea Ktur communes, Cu Kuin district, Dak Lak, bringing the total number of subjects arrested to 26. On June 12, the Criminal Police Department of Nghe An Province Police informed that the unit had just broken up a gambling ring in the form of lottery and betting with a total amount of more than 20 billion VND, arresting 10 subjects in the ring. On June 12, Air Defender 2023 - the largest air exercise in the history of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) - began at Wunstorf Air Base, near Hannover, Germany. The exercise is expected to last until June 23, with the participation of forces from 25 countries, of which Germany is the main exercise location and takes command. A total of 10,000 soldiers and 250 aircraft will participate in the exercise, of which the US will contribute about 100 aircraft and Germany 70 aircraft. The exercise aims to train how to quickly transfer reinforced air forces to Germany in the event of a conflict, recapture occupied areas, and train defense and mutual support in the event of an armed attack on one or more NATO members. On June 12, Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) began a trial run of the system to discharge treated radioactive wastewater from the Fukushima No. 1 nuclear power plant into the sea. In this trial run, TEPCO uses clean water to test the operation of pumping systems and treatment features in case of abnormalities. The trial run is expected to be completed in the second half of June, including inspections by the Japan Atomic Energy Regulation Commission. On June 12, Australian police were urgently investigating a serious bus accident that occurred the night before in the town of Greta, Hunter region of New South Wales (NSW), in the southeast of the country. The accident killed at least 10 people, while the number of injured people reached 25. According to the police, initial investigations showed that the accident was likely caused by foggy weather, which hindered visibility. The work to identify the victims is underway.
