King Charles has seen his personal fortune soar in the past year, The Sunday Times reports.
This week, The Sunday Times published its annual 'Rich List', highlighting some of the UK's wealthiest celebrities, including Lewis Hamilton, David and Victoria Beckham, Elton John and, of course, King Charles.
King Charles's fortune is worth around $850 million.

While the list includes 156 billionaires (up from 165 last year), the king is not among them. However, his fortune has increased by nearly $40 million over the past year, taking him to 238th place with an estimated net worth of nearly $850 million (VND21 trillion).
King Charles's net worth is controversial
The value of the king's assets is a hotly debated topic, as most of his assets and real estate belong to the royal family, and many disagree on whether they should be counted in his personal portfolio.
The Sunday Times does not count the Crown Estate or the Duchy of Lancaster when calculating King Charles' current fortune.
“Both of these properties come with the job of a monarch and there are rules that restrict the ability to sell or profit from them. Treating these properties as the monarch’s personal property is like an executive treating an office laptop or company car as their own,” The Sunday Times explained.

Likewise, the majority of royal artwork, jewelry, tapestries, sculptures, furniture, and other decorative items belong to the "Royal Collection" and are "held in trust" for the king, not privately owned.
The Sunday Times quoted royal biographer Robert Hardman: "Our monarchy is not as wealthy as many people think. I am sure the king is not a billionaire."
King Charles's portfolio includes the royal estates at Sandringham and Balmoral, their most valuable assets and two of their favourite residences.
The main residence at Sandringham is valued at $73 million in 2022, but the entire estate is worth much more. It also brings in additional income through tours and various namesake products such as Sandringham apple juice.
Similarly, while Balmoral Castle is valued at $80 million, The Sunday Times values the entire surrounding estate – including vast lakes, mountains and meadows – at around $278 million.
The late Queen Elizabeth's investments are estimated to be worth around $165 million. However, her art and stamp collections, as well as what remains of her once-profitable horse breeding program, "cannot be accurately valued," according to The Sunday Times .
King Charles' portfolio also includes the inheritance from his late parents - Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip. However, this wealth is also difficult to assess, because the wills of senior royals are kept private and not open to public scrutiny.
