Reporter: Sir, after four editions, the National Journalism Award for Combating Corruption and Negative Phenomena has affirmed its special position within the national journalism awards system. Could you share some of the important milestones the Award has achieved?

Mr. Vu Van Tien: Through its various editions, the National Journalism Award for Combating Corruption and Negative Phenomena has increasingly attracted social attention and active participation from media agencies and journalists. The most striking feature is the steadily increasing number of journalistic works submitted each year. While the first award received 1,005 entries from nearly 100 central and local media agencies, the fourth award saw the Organizing Committee receive 1,078 valid entries across four categories: print, online, radio, and television, from 121 central and local media agencies.

In its fourth edition, with a spirit of democracy, objectivity, impartiality, and high responsibility, the members of the Final Judging Panel conducted a thorough selection process and unanimously chose 54 outstanding works to award 4 A prizes; 10 B prizes; 12 C prizes; and 28 Consolation prizes.

Reporter: As someone directly involved in organizing and judging the competition, how would you assess the quality of the entries this year?

Mr. Vu Van Tien: In general, the entries in this year's competition closely adhered to the theme and criteria of the competition regulations. Many works were of good quality, highly insightful, demonstrating the commitment and persistence of journalists in pursuing corruption and negative practices to the end. This created a significant social impact, bringing positive results in the fight against corruption and negative practices through diverse and vivid topics in a modern journalistic style. These works comprehensively reflected the determination of the Party and State, the involvement of relevant agencies, and the active participation of all segments of the population in the fight against corruption and negative practices, from the central level to local levels.

In terms of form, the entries submitted to this year's competition were meticulously crafted by the authors and groups of authors, covering a wide range of rich and vibrant topics in a modern journalistic style. They comprehensively reflect the determination of the Party, the State, the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the involvement of functional agencies, and the active participation of all strata of the people in the fight against corruption, negative practices, and waste from the central to local levels.

A new feature of this year's competition is the inclusion of more works on the theme of combating corruption, which were highly appreciated by the Steering Committee and the Organizing Committee; at the same time, there were also more works praising and encouraging courageous individuals in the fight against corruption and negative practices, which have a positive impact on society.

The organizing committee highly values these meticulous and dedicated investigative reports, many of which were written over weeks, months, or even years to uncover the truth. This has resulted in thousands of journalistic works combating corruption and negative practices, employing diverse and accurate approaches and reporting. These works contribute to the detection, acceleration of verification, investigation, and handling of serious and complex corruption cases, creating a positive social impact and spreading to all segments of the population.

Reporter: To carry out investigative reports on combating corruption and negative practices, reporters have to sacrifice their sweat, tears, and even blood. In your opinion, what solutions are needed in the future to continue promoting the role of the press in the fight against corruption and negative practices?

Mr. Vu Van Tien: In the fight against corruption and negative practices, the press plays a particularly important role. Not only does it contribute to detecting and combating cases, organizations, and individuals showing signs of corruption and negative practices, but the press also promotes and encourages the decisive involvement of the entire political system, mobilizing the strength of the whole population to participate in the fight against corruption and negative practices.

To maintain its position and role as a leading and pioneering force, the press and its journalists must innovate and improve the quality of content, form, and methods of conveying information about the fight against corruption and negative practices. This must be diverse and engaging; it must truly become a forum for the broad masses of the people, a place to exchange opinions and discuss important issues of life, and to both monitor and critique the activities of public authorities and society as a whole in a constructive, positive, practical, and effective manner.

On the other hand, corruption and negative practices are manifestations of wrongdoing and evil in society. Therefore, every journalist needs to proactively and actively participate in preventing and combating corruption and negative practices, considering this a political task, responsibility, and mission of a true journalist. Journalists must cultivate strong character, professional knowledge, work cautiously, adhere to the law and professional ethics, and provide objective and truthful information, contributing to protecting the interests of the Party, the State, and the people.

Strengthen and promote the leading and coordinating role of the Vietnam Fatherland Front with political and social organizations; news agencies and press in carrying out the task of social supervision and criticism; focus on coordination with the Vietnam Journalists Association and press and media agencies in all aspects so that the fight against corruption and negative phenomena truly becomes a movement and a common task of the whole society.

Furthermore, we will continue to innovate in organizing and improving the quality of the National Journalism Award on Anti-Corruption and Negative Phenomena, aiming to encourage and create a favorable environment and "playground" for journalists to participate more actively and creatively. This will contribute to encouraging, motivating, and honoring high-quality journalists and journalistic works, spreading positive social effects, and strengthening the people's firm belief in the Party's leadership in the fight against corruption and negative phenomena.

Reporter: At 8:00 PM on November 5th, the Fourth National Journalism Award Ceremony on Anti-Corruption and Negative Practices, 2022-2023, will take place. To what extent have the organizational preparations for this event progressed so far, sir?

Mr. Vu Van Tien: This year's competition is being held at a time when we are looking back on more than half of the term implementing the tasks and resolutions of the 13th National Congress of the Party; the fourth competition is also being held at a time when the Central Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption and Negative Phenomena is summarizing 10 years of anti-corruption and negative phenomenon prevention and control work from 2012-2022, especially in 2022 when provincial and city-level steering committees for anti-corruption and negative phenomenon prevention and control were established. This demonstrates the Party's determination to fight corruption at its root, with the decisive involvement of Party committees at all levels and the entire population.

Therefore, we determined that the content of the Award Ceremony needed to highlight those milestones and inspire the spread of the spirit of dedication, perseverance, determination, unity, and overcoming all challenges and temptations of each journalist, to devote themselves to the fight against corruption and negative practices, to put the people first, rely on the people and for the people, to strengthen the people's trust in the Party and the State to continue successfully implementing the resolutions of the 13th National Congress of the Party, for the goal of a prosperous country and a happy people.

To date, the organization of the Fourth National Journalism Award Ceremony on Anti-Corruption and Negative Phenomena, 2022-2023, has been implemented by the Award Organizing Committee according to the set schedule and plan. Currently, the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front is actively coordinating with Vietnam Television to finalize the reports and detailed scripts for the Award Announcement and Presentation Ceremony…

It can be confidently expected that with meticulous investment and thorough preparation, the Fourth National Journalism Award Ceremony on Anti-Corruption and Negative Phenomena in 2022-2023 will be a great success. This will further strongly spread the determination of the Party, the State, and the people in the fight against corruption and negative phenomena.

Reporter: Thank you very much, sir!
