Ha Long high-speed train

High-speed boats operate on the Ha Long - Cat Ba route, costing 250,000 VND per trip.

The Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee announced that the high-speed ferry service underwent trial runs on October 18th at the Ha Long International Passenger Port. Official operation is expected to begin on November 15th.

According to the operator, the ferry departs daily at 7:30 AM from Tuan Chau International Cruise Port, Ha Long City, arriving at Dong Ho Bay in the center of Cat Ba town, Hai Phong City, at 8:30 AM. Afterward, the ferry continues to Dong Bai Port and returns to Dong Ho Bay. The return trip to Ha Long International Cruise Port departs at 3:00 PM the same day.

Locals and tourists only need about an hour to travel from Ha Long to the center of Cat Ba town, at a price of 250,000 VND per person per trip.

According to the Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee, this is the first modern high-speed passenger ferry route to be operated, connecting the Ha Long Bay heritage area and the Cat Ba archipelago. This route uses twin-hulled high-speed ferries designed to European standards, with a capacity of 300 passengers and numerous entertainment amenities. The vessels have a maximum speed of 28 nautical miles per hour, high stability, noise reduction, anti-seasickness features, and can operate in bad weather conditions, including winds up to Beaufort scale 7.

The high-speed ferry route connecting Ha Long and Cat Ba will provide locals and tourists with more enjoyable experiences, reduce traffic congestion and pressure on ferry routes which are very busy on weekends, and strengthen the connection between Ha Long Bay and Cat Ba archipelago after it was recognized as a World Natural Heritage site.
