Tchouameni and Valverde are the focus of attention at Real Madrid right now. |
After days of tension stemming from the incident between Federico Valverde and Aurelien Tchouameni, Real Madrid are trying to restore order ahead of the El Clasico match against Barcelona.
At a press conference on May 9th, coach Alvaro Arbeloa confirmed that Tchouameni would not receive any further professional punishment beyond the internal financial penalty. The French midfielder will continue training with the team and is included in the squad for the away match at Camp Nou.
However, Arbeloa did not reveal whether Tchouameni would start. After the press conference, the media were allowed to observe the first 15 minutes of training at Valdebebas. Tchouameni appeared normal, showing no signs of being isolated after the incident with Valverde.
Meanwhile, Valverde was absent as expected. The Uruguayan midfielder has not yet been able to return to training with his teammates due to fitness issues and remains under medical observation. This means that the two will not be seen together on the training pitch.
The atmosphere at Valdebebas was described as relatively calm despite the controversies that had erupted in the past few days. Arbeloa chatted with his assistants as usual, while the players divided into groups to play a game of keep-away.
The players absent from the squad include Rodrygo, Militao, Mendy, Güler, and Carvajal due to injury. However, Dani Ceballos trained normally. Nevertheless, many sources suggest the Spanish midfielder continues to be left out of the squad following disagreements with Arbeloa.
Another positive sign for Real Madrid is that Kylian Mbappe has returned to training with the rest of the team after recovering from a muscle injury. The French striker is expected to be fit enough to participate in El Clasico.
Earlier, Arbeloa publicly defended Valverde and Tchouameni in a press conference, expressing anger over the leak of internal locker room information. The Spanish coach asserted that the players had admitted their mistakes, apologized, and deserved a chance to correct them instead of being "cornered" in the media.
