Techfest 2023 kicks off from May, promoting an open innovation ecosystem, creating breakthroughs for some of Vietnam's strong technology fields such as education technology (edtech), medical technology (medtech), financial technology (fintech).
Information was announced by Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Tran Van Tung at the launching event of the 2023th National Innovation and Startup Festival (Techfest Vietnam 9) on the afternoon of May 23. The series of events, which will last until December, aim to promote the development of an open innovation ecosystem in Vietnam.
Deputy Minister Tran Van Tung expected the national Techfest to help connect resources not only the state, but also corporations, companies and localities to promote the results achieved and maintain the operating model of the startup ecosystem.
Recognizing the participation of more than 30 technology villages at this year's Techfest, Deputy Minister Tung suggested that it is necessary to promote technology village activities to each locality, accompany and support the development of the startup ecosystem. He said that villages need to continue to put out headlines and call for technological and innovative solutions from localities, businesses and Vietnamese experts abroad.
Dr. Pham Hong Quat, Director of the Science and Technology Market Development Department, Ministry of Science and Technology, said that the year 2023 is showing many challenges that are global problems but can be clearly felt in Vietnam such as weather and climate affecting human health, difficulties of the economy, etc. With the participation of more than 30 technology villages, Mr. Quat expects the members to participate in solving big problems from the beginning.
This year's Techfest also organizes activities to connect with the world, strengthen cooperation with countries with strengths in technology such as Australia, the US, Canada, and South Korea. These activities provide opportunities for Vietnamese startups to develop the market, attract international investment resources, and also an opportunity to introduce and promote a dynamic and innovative startup ecosystem of Vietnam to the world.
In addition to annual activities such as seminars and contests "Finding national innovative startup talent", Techfest 2023 also has a number of activities on how to transfer, investment connection models such as the establishment of an Open innovation studio, bringing initiatives to form a local space or a digital space to share resources for technology villages.
Techfest 2023 will promote innovative solutions in the field of culinary technology (foodtech) associated with tourism development and exploitation of indigenous resources; solutions for global food security and the opportunity of innovative start-ups, developing new online platforms, e-commerce and business models to support market access and disrupt the sale of local produce.
Techfest Vietnam 2023 is organized by the Department of Market Development and Science and Technology Enterprises (NATEC), the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese (Ministry of Foreign Affairs), the Vietnam Science and Technology Entrepreneurial Fund (SVF), Project 844 Office, and the National Center for Innovative Startup Support (NSSC). Techfest was held for the first time in 2015, an annual activity organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology in collaboration with other units for the past 8 years. Through Techfests with the goal of building and promoting an innovative startup ecosystem, connecting the region with the country and the world.
