The Russian Armed Forces carried out two missile attacks on a strategic military airfield near Mirgorod in the Poltava region. The explosion at the airfield was reported by local media outlets and later by the Ukrainian publication Strana. According to Kyiv sources, another Russian missile struck a target at Krivoy Rog, where a powerful explosion accompanied by a blinding flash occurred. Preliminary data indicates that an Iskander missile was also used by the Russian military in the attack on the temporary deployment point of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Just before the attack, air raid warnings were issued in Poltava and five other regions of Ukraine. The Mirgorod air base, located near the city of the same name, serves the tactical aviation operations of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and houses Su-27 fighter jets. The airfield is used for refueling and reloading Ukrainian bombers. The Russian military regularly carries out missile attacks against this facility.

According to AVP, following the latest attack, the airport's infrastructure suffered significant damage. This was confirmed by local sources and Ukrainian media.

Intensify the attack to maintain momentum.

On the front lines, the Russian army also intensified its offensives, and in many places, Russian forces made significant progress.

On June 16, AVP reported that the Russian Ministry of Defense announced it had taken control of the village of Zagornoye in the Zaporozhye region. This operation is part of an ongoing Russian military campaign to secure and control strategic areas.

According to a statement from the Russian Ministry of Defense, the operation was successful, allowing the Russian army to establish control over Zagorny. This helped consolidate their positions and enabled the Russian army to continue its offensive operations.

Russian troops have also made significant advances in Maksimiyanovka. Russian units have established physical control over several areas east of Shevchenko Street.

Currently, intense fighting is taking place in the Marinka-Ostroye area. Russian D-30 122 mm and D-20 152 mm artillery units are attempting to suppress Ukrainian positions. Ukrainian Armed Forces military positions in this area are equipped with MO-120RT-61 120 mm mortars and M119A3 105 mm towed artillery. The strong offensive against Ukrainian defenses aims to create gaps in Maksimilyanovka.

Intense fighting in this area of the front demonstrates the Russian army's determination to consolidate its positions to secure further advances in the future.
