On the morning of August 21, heavy rain occurred in the northern communes of Thai Nguyen due to the influence of a low pressure trough with an axis through the North combined with high-altitude wind convergence.
In the area, there are places with very heavy rain, such as: Binh Long commune 119mm, Phuong Giao commune over 189mm, Dan Tien commune over 128mm, Vu Muon commune over 106mm, Cam Giang commune over 104mm...
Heavy rains caused the Cau River to rise, causing localized flooding in Bac Kan and Duc Xuan wards. Many traffic routes were affected by landslides.
Faced with this situation, Thai Nguyen province requires units and localities to strengthen direction and seriously implement the Directive of the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee on strengthening the work of preventing, combating and overcoming damage caused by natural disasters during the 2025 storm season.
Chairman of the People's Committee of Thai Nguyen province Pham Hoang Son requested Chairmen of the People's Committees of communes and wards to closely monitor weather developments and provide timely information so that people can proactively respond to ensure safety.
Organize to review and prepare evacuation plans for households in dangerous areas, especially along rivers and streams, with high risks of landslides, flash floods, and deep flooding. Have plans to support accommodation, food, and necessities for evacuees.

Communes and wards are ready to deploy forces to guard and control people and vehicles passing through culverts, spillways, deeply flooded areas, areas that have collapsed or are at risk of collapsing. Resolutely do not allow traffic if safety is not ensured.
Arrange forces, materials, and means to overcome incidents to ensure smooth traffic when heavy rain occurs. Prepare plans to ensure drainage and prevent flooding for agricultural production areas, industrial parks, urban areas, and residential areas.
In an urgent directive document issued on the afternoon of August 21, the People's Committee of Thai Nguyen province also requested the Provincial Military Command and the Provincial Police to prepare forces and means to support people in responding and moving assets out of dangerous areas.
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, soil moisture models in some areas in Thai Nguyen are nearly saturated or have reached saturation. In the coming time, there may continue to be rain in Thai Nguyen.
Flash flood warnings are issued in the communes of Quang Bach, Dan Tien, La Hien, Nghinh Tuong, Phong Quang, Tan Ky, Thanh Mai, Vinh Thong, Bach Thong, Cam Giang, Hiep Luc, Phu Thong, Quang Son, Thuong Quan, Tran Phu, Trang Xa, Vo Nhai and the wards of Bac Kan and Duc Xuan.
