In the context of agriculture facing many challenges such as Climate change, geological disasters, direct impact on land and soil, green agriculture, sustainable agriculture is not only a trend but also an inevitable path.
In the province, women play an important role in agricultural production, however, they still face many difficulties in accessing knowledge, technology, capital and markets. Therefore, the project will contribute to the implementation of Vietnam's sustainable agricultural and rural development strategy, 2021-2030 period, vision to 2050, prioritizing the transformation to sustainable, green agriculture, focusing on capacity building for smallholder farmers, especially women.
The project is implemented in 4 communes of Vi Xuyen, Linh Ho, Tan Quang and Vinh Tuy; focusing on 3 main groups of activities, which are: Improving sustainable agricultural production capacity for 1,500 women; promoting digital technology application for 1,200 women; expanding market access opportunities for 300 women. The goal is to help women in the highlands learn and apply green, environmentally friendly production models; enhance their role and voice in the family and society; create sustainable income, improve the quality of life for themselves and their families, protect the environment, and contribute to the overall development of the locality.

Ms. Vuong Thai Nga, Program Director, representative of CARE International in Vietnam shared: “The project is the next step in CARE International’s efforts in Vietnam to accompany rural women, helping them become pioneers in the green agricultural transition in Vietnam. We believe that women’s economic empowerment is the core solution to building sustainable and climate-resilient communities.”
The Tuyen Quang Provincial Women's Union will be the focal point for coordination, working with CARE International in Vietnam and partners for effective implementation; at the same time, it is committed to supporting women with knowledge, skills, capital and markets.

Ms. Trieu Thi Tinh, Permanent Vice President of the Tuyen Quang Provincial Women's Union, said: “We expect this project to bring about concrete changes for local women, from accessing new knowledge, applying technology to expanding the market. The Union will actively support rural women to become the economic leaders of their households and contribute to the development of the community.”
At the workshop, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Tuyen Quang Provincial Women's Union and CARE International in Vietnam. This is a long-term commitment, mobilizing the participation of many parties in the project implementation process, and affirming the determination to build a green, environmentally friendly agricultural production environment.
