On August 22, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs ' regular press conference, in response to a reporter's question asking about the outstanding results of the State visit to China by General Secretary and President To Lam, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang stated:
The State visit to China by General Secretary and President To Lam was a resounding success in all aspects, making a significant contribution to the building of a Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future, which has strategic significance and contributes to peace, stability, and development in the region and the world . Within the framework of the visit, the two sides issued a Joint Statement on further strengthening the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership and promoting the building of a Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future .
The visit achieved several notable results, including the following:
Firstly, the top leaders of both parties and countries affirmed the importance they attach to bilateral relations; they both consider prioritizing the development of relations between the two parties and countries as a strategic choice; and they both affirmed their support for each other in successfully achieving national development goals. Both sides agreed to continue effectively implementing the high-level common understanding reached between the leaders of the two parties and countries during recent visits, further strengthening the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between Vietnam and China, and promoting the building of a Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future based on the "six more" orientation: higher political trust, more substantive security and defense cooperation, deeper substantive cooperation, a more solid social foundation, closer multilateral coordination, and better control and resolution of disagreements, contributing to achieving more tangible results in bilateral relations, bringing practical benefits to the people of both countries, and contributing to peace, cooperation, and development in the region and the world.
Secondly, the two sides exchanged views on cooperation directions in various fields, agreeing to strengthen cooperation in strategic areas such as diplomacy, defense, and security; expanding cooperation connecting the "Belt and Road" initiative with the "Two Corridors, One Belt" framework… The two sides agreed to facilitate trade and expand the export of Vietnamese agricultural and aquatic products to China. Both sides encouraged and supported strong, reputable, and technologically advanced enterprises to invest in each other's countries and expand cooperation in new areas such as the digital economy, circular economy, green development, clean energy, and renewable energy…
Thirdly, both sides agreed to designate 2025 as the "Vietnam-China Humanitarian Exchange Year" and jointly organize a series of celebratory activities to mark the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and China.
Fourth, both sides will strengthen coordination and multilateral cooperation; enhance cooperation within mechanisms such as the United Nations, the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum, etc.
Fifth, the two sides engaged in in-depth, sincere, and frank exchanges of views on maritime issues, emphasizing the need for better control and proactive resolution of disagreements at sea based on adherence to high-level common understandings, the "Agreement on the Basic Principles Guiding the Settlement of Maritime Issues between Vietnam and China," international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, and the maintenance of peace and stability in the South China Sea and the region. The two sides also agreed to continue coordinating the effective implementation of legal documents on land borders and related agreements, and to strengthen cooperation in the Vietnam-China land border area.
On this occasion, ministries, departments, and localities of the two countries signed a total of 16 cooperation documents in the fields of connectivity, industry, customs inspection and quarantine, health, media, local cooperation, and people's welfare.
