An impressive growth outlook for 2025
Thanh Hoa's tourism industry concluded the 2021-2025 period with a breakthrough year, affirming its position as one of the leading tourism centers in the country. In 2025, Thanh Hoa's tourism sector not only surpassed targets for visitor numbers and total revenue, but also made a significant mark with estimated revenue from international visitors reaching US$457,220,000, exceeding the plan by 120.3%.
This achievement is thanks to synchronized investment in infrastructure, strong digital transformation in promotion, and collaborative efforts by businesses, thereby strengthening the role of tourism as a key growth driver in the province's economic development strategy.

During the 2021-2025 period, Thanh Hoa's tourism sector recorded remarkable growth, with an estimated total of over 58.571 million visitors, an average annual growth rate of 17.3%; total tourism revenue is estimated at 129,007 billion VND, an average annual increase of 34.4%. The province has integrated tourism development plans into its provincial planning and successfully attracted many strategic investors. The announcement of the Thanh Hoa tourism brand identity with the message "Thanh Hoa Tourism - the beauty of all four seasons" has made a profound impression, elevating the local image on the national tourism map.
Specifically for 2025, key indicators exceeded expectations: Total tourist arrivals reached 16,281,000, an increase of 6.1% compared to 2024 and achieving 101.8% of the annual plan. International tourists reached 852,300, an increase of 18.4% compared to 2024, achieving 100.3% of the plan. Total tourism revenue is estimated at VND 45,606 billion, an increase of 34.8% compared to 2024, achieving 100.2% of the plan. Total revenue from international tourists reached USD 457,220,000, an increase of 21.9% compared to the same period and exceeding the plan by 120.3%.
In terms of infrastructure, the province has attracted 76 tourism investment projects with a total registered capital of VND 155,000 billion. Simultaneously, 70 tourism infrastructure investment projects have been implemented with a total capital of VND 15,500 billion, of which 48 projects have been completed and put into operation. By 2025, the province will approve 3 tourism development plans, bringing the total number of plans to 51, contributing to long-term spatial development orientation.
The accommodation system continues to grow rapidly in both quantity and quality, with 1,450 establishments and 50,500 rooms throughout the province, meeting the growing demands of the market.
The impetus comes from a synchronized strategy and digital transformation.
Discussing these results, Ms. Nguyen Thi Nguyet, Head of the Tourism Management Department of the Thanh Hoa Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, emphasized the role of a comprehensive development strategy.
Ms. Nguyet stated: “The results achieved are the sum of many factors. Most importantly, it is due to Vietnam's proactive approach to opening up and recovering international tourism in general, along with the continuous efforts and innovation of tourism businesses in the province in improving service quality and diversifying products. We focused on high-value products, such as resort tourism and heritage tourism, thanks to which total revenue from international tourists exceeded 120.3% of the 2025 plan.”

Not only emphasizing the role of high-quality products, Ms. Nguyet also affirmed the necessity of digital transformation: “Digital transformation is currently a crucial pillar in Thanh Hoa's tourism development strategy. We focus on building a digital database system, developing smart tourism applications, and supporting businesses in optimizing business processes, believing that Thanh Hoa tourism must be a smart, convenient, and accessible ecosystem.”
Digital transformation not only helps increase management efficiency but also creates a modern approach to tourists, especially in the international market.
In response to the province's digital transformation strategy, the Ho Dynasty Citadel Heritage Conservation Center is one of the pioneering units applying technology to the preservation and promotion of heritage. The Center's Director, Mr. Nguyen Ba Linh, emphasized that technology is the "gateway" to bring heritage closer to the global public.
Focus on targeted promotion, applying information technology; developing professional human resources with foreign language skills and communication skills, understanding of community tourism and digital transformation.
With the outstanding successes of 2025 and a long-term development strategy, Thanh Hoa's tourism sector is building a solid foundation to enter the 2026-2030 period with a proactive, creative, and breakthrough mindset. Tourism continues to be identified as a key economic sector, making a significant contribution to GRDP growth and enhancing the province's position on the national and regional tourism map.
