Establishment of Steering Committee for implementing Quy Nhon - Pleiku expressway project

On July 25, the People's Committee of Gia Lai province held a conference to inspect the implementation of compensation and site clearance for the Quy Nhon - Pleiku Expressway Project, the section passing through Gia Lai province (formerly).

The Quy Nhon – Pleiku Expressway Project is 125km long, with 4 lanes, a design speed of 100km/h, a total investment of over 43,700 billion VND, and a land use requirement of about 942 hectares. The project has 3 components, expected to start construction at the end of December 2025; completed and put into use in 2029.

In the project, the section through Gia Lai province (formerly) is 85km long, belonging to components 2 and 3 (from Km40 to Km124). It is expected that 221 households will have to be resettled.

At the meeting, local departments and branches proposed that the Provincial People's Committee assign units to speed up the detailed planning of resettlement areas; identify material mines, waste dumps, and affected historical and cultural relics to have a treatment plan...

Mr. Nguyen Tu Cong Hoang, Vice Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee, said that for the Quy Nhon - Pleiku Expressway Project, the Provincial Party Standing Committee has established a Steering Committee for the implementation of national key projects, headed by Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Ho Quoc Dung. The Committee is responsible for inspecting and promptly handling difficulties and problems during the implementation process.

Mr. Nguyen Tu Cong Hoang suggested that for communes and wards where the project passes, it is necessary to urgently establish a compensation and site clearance council; approve appropriate and harmonious land prices, ensuring people's rights and in accordance with state regulations.

Mr. Pham Xuan Diep, Director of the Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board, informed about component 3 of the project.

Mr. Nguyen Tu Cong Hoang also requested that the project management boards invite relevant communes, departments and branches to determine the scale and location of resettlement based on the wishes of the people. Once agreed, it is necessary to hire consultants to immediately plan the resettlement area. Mr. Hoang also requested the Department of Agriculture and Environment to soon "finalize" with the project management boards of material and stone mines, ensuring quality to serve the project.
