Instead of traveling , recently, on weekends, Ms. Huyen Minh's family (36 years old, residing in Binh Thanh District, Ho Chi Minh City) has been exploring fun places and taking photos in the city.

Cafés of all styles—from riverside farmhouses and shady garden cafes to air-conditioned and sidewalk cafés—are always the perfect starting point for a relaxing day.

"Each coffee shop has its own unique style, but my favorite is Do Phu Coffee Shop – a place that embodies the unique culinary and architectural style of Saigon before 1975, with its delicious broken rice and fried dough sticks dipped in fragrant coffee. It's still coffee, but the feeling of enjoyment, without worrying about work, is no different from going on a trip far away," she said.

To make their family trip even more complete, following a recommendation from an acquaintance, they also visited another Saigon commando base on Tran Quang Khai Street. She expressed: "These bases are suitable for groups of young people or families to come together to learn about history. I'm sure many people will be very surprised when they visit."

Having recently received a pay cut, during the four-day National Day holiday on September 2nd, Mr. Nguyen Quoc An (40 years old, residing in District 11) chose to take his family on a local trip. Their chosen destinations included the War Remnants Museum, the Reunification Hall, the Saigon Zoo, and a river bus tour.

He commented: "The ticket prices to experience these places are not expensive at all. My children especially enjoyed visiting the zoo and taking the river bus. The unhurried holidays allowed me time to enjoy myself right where I live. And after that trip, my family has had more trips to visit other museums, Suoi Tien, Dam Sen, Cu Chi Tunnels… ensuring that we are happy and affordable."

Surprised by Can Gio

As Vietnam's first World Biosphere Reserve, Can Gio boasts a mangrove forest ecosystem with many rare and precious plant and animal species. Spending a day traveling to Can Gio last weekend, Mr. Nguyen Vu (33 years old, residing in Binh Thanh District) and his group of friends were pleasantly surprised by the many experiences there were.

"First, my group visited the Rừng Sác War Zone historical site, taking a boat ride through the cool mangrove forest. Next, we moved to the Vàm Sát tourist area, climbed the observation deck overlooking the lush green landscape below, experienced crocodile fishing, and enjoyed lunch with delicious, reasonably priced fresh seafood. It was perfect for recharging after a stressful week of work," he enthusiastically shared.

At the end of 2022, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, in coordination with the People's Committee of Can Gio District, announced the Thieng Lieng community tourism product in Thanh An island commune. This is considered the first truly authentic community tourism product in Ho Chi Minh City.

These destinations are developed based on cultural identity, natural conditions, and the characteristics of each household, with the aim of increasing income, creating jobs, and improving the educational level of the community.

According to a report by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism on the results of the first phase of operation of the Thieng Lieng community tourism destination, 16 households participated with product and service groups such as: experiences, cuisine, accommodation, and local culture and arts to serve tourists.
