S slow down and enjoy
Instead of traveling , on recent weekends, Ms. Huyen Minh's family (36 years old, living in Binh Thanh District, Ho Chi Minh City) went together to explore entertainment and check-in spots in the city.
Coffee shops of all styles, from riverside farms, garden cafes with shady trees to air-conditioned, sidewalk cafes… are always the starting point for a leisurely day.
"Each coffee shop has its own style, but my favorite is Do Phu Coffee - a place with unique culinary and architectural style of Saigon before 1975 with fragrant broken rice and fried breadsticks dipped in coffee. It's also coffee, but the feeling of enjoying it, not having to worry about work is no different from going on a trip far away," she said.
To make the family's trip more complete, following the recommendation of an acquaintance, the family also visited another base of the Saigon Special Forces on Tran Quang Khai Street. She said: "These bases are suitable for groups of young people or families to come together to learn about history. I am sure that many people will be surprised when they visit."
Having just taken a pay cut, during the 4-day National Day holiday on September 2nd, Mr. Nguyen Quoc An (40 years old, residing in District 11) also chose to take his family on a local tour. The family's attractions were: War Remnants Museum, Reunification Hall, Saigon Zoo and Botanical Garden, and river bus.
He commented: "The ticket price to experience the above places is not expensive, my children especially enjoy going to the Zoo and the river bus. The holidays are not rushed, giving me time to enjoy right where I live. And after that trip, my family had more trips to visit other museums, Suoi Tien, Dam Sen, Cu Chi tunnels... together ensuring the criteria of fun and cheap".
The number of visitors to Saigon Zoo and Botanical Gardens has increased continuously over the years.
Surprise with Can Gio
As the first world biosphere reserve in Vietnam, Can Gio has a mangrove ecosystem with many rare species of animals and plants. Spending a day traveling to Can Gio last weekend, Mr. Nguyen Vu (33 years old, living in Binh Thanh District) and his group of friends were surprised because there were so many things worth experiencing.
"First, my group went to the historical relic of the Sac Forest War Zone, took a boat ride through the cool mangrove forest. Next, the group moved to the Vam Sat tourist area, went up to the observation deck that opened up the green space below, experienced crocodile fishing, and had lunch with fresh seafood at reasonable prices. Perfect for recharging after a stressful work week," he excitedly shared.
At the end of 2022, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism coordinated with the People's Committee of Can Gio District to announce the Thieng Lieng community tourism product in Thanh An island commune. This is considered the first true community tourism product in Ho Chi Minh City.
These destinations are formed based on cultural identity factors, natural conditions and characteristics of each household to increase income, create jobs and improve the community's knowledge.
According to the report of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism on the results of the Thieng Lieng community tourism destination in phase 1, there are 16 households participating with groups of products and services such as: experiences, cuisine, accommodation, local culture and arts serving tourists.
