The event was organized by the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations in collaboration with the Saint Petersburg Foreign Affairs Committee (Russia), the Vietnam-Russia Friendship Association, the Russia-Vietnam Friendship Association, and the "Tradition and Friendship" Fund for Promoting Russia-Vietnam Cooperation Development, and took place over two days, September 30 and October 1.

At the meeting, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Do Van Chien, highly appreciated the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations for coordinating with partners in Saint Petersburg to organize the first Vietnam-Russia People's Forum. This is a very meaningful activity, contributing to deepening the friendship between the people of the two countries and proposing many new directions for people-to-people diplomacy .
Mr. Do Van Chien further shared that, under the new organizational model, Vietnam has successfully reorganized its political system into a two-tiered local government model, while also restructuring the operations of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, political and social organizations, and mass associations assigned tasks by the Party and State. As a result, these organizations can play a proactive role in connecting, proposing, and facilitating strategic cooperation and people-to-people cooperation between the two countries; including the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, which operates under the Vietnam Fatherland Front. Mr. Do Van Chien expressed confidence that the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations will fulfill its role and mission to connect and effectively implement cooperation activities between the people and social organizations of the two countries.
