Netflix has just announced its ranking of the Top 10 most-watched non-English language television programs globally for the past week, from May 20-26, 2024.
The South Korean drama "The 8 Show" has climbed to number 1 globally after nearly two weeks on air. Last week, it entered the Top 7 just three days after its release. This week, "The 8 Show" took the top spot with 4.8 million views.
The film also entered the Netflix Top 10 in 68 regions, including reaching number 1 in South Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Hong Kong (China).
“The 8 Show” is a survival film that reveals the compelling story of eight individuals trapped in a secret space divided into eight levels. They are drawn into a dangerous game where they must try to “earn money over time.”
The film features a star-studded cast including Ryu Jun Yeol, Chun Woo Hee, Park Jung Min, Moon Jung Hee, Park Hae Joon, Bae Sung Woo, Lee Joo Young, and Lee Yeol Eum.
Sharing a similar theme with the blockbuster "Squid Game," "The 8 Show" has been praised for exploring some novel content, along with interesting character portrayals and the acting abilities of its cast.
Meanwhile, the TV series "Queen of Tears," which ended a month ago, continues to be in the global Netflix Top 10 for the 12th consecutive week.
This week, the drama starring Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Ji Won ranked 8th with 1.3 million views. "Queen of Tears" also made it into the Top 10 in 21 different regions.
