In response to this trend, over the years, facilities have been invested in, becoming more spacious and equipped with modern equipment, creating a solid foundation for expanding scale and implementing many new techniques, combining traditional medicine with modern medicine.

A highlight is the implementation of many new techniques, harmoniously combining traditional and modern medicine. Specialized methods such as acupuncture, thread embedding, fire therapy, massage and acupressure are combined with modern techniques such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection, intra-articular injection, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, gastrointestinal endoscopy, and hemorrhoid surgery. This combination has significantly improved treatment effectiveness.

Dr. Nguyen Van Anh, Director of the Da Nang City Traditional Medicine Hospital, said that the unit also places special emphasis on developing human resources. "In addition to organizing many continuous training courses and providing new technical training for medical staff, the hospital also promotes postgraduate training," Dr. Anh said.

Focus on service quality.

In addition to improving techniques, the unit places special emphasis on developing medicinal herbs – a core element of traditional medicine. In 2022, a model medicinal herb garden with over 80 species was put into operation, serving both treatment purposes and as a vibrant "practical training room" for medical students and patients to learn about.

Locally produced traditional medicines are also becoming increasingly diverse. Many types of extracts, powders, pills, and decoctions are trusted by patients because of their safety and suitability for the Vietnamese constitution. "Proactively securing sources of medicinal herbs and products not only ensures effective treatment but also contributes to preserving and promoting the value of traditional knowledge," Dr. Anh commented.

Recognizing traditional medicine as a national cultural heritage and understanding that its essence is preventive medicine, the hospital leadership incorporated many elements reflecting traditional medicine into the design of the new facility from the outset, such as: a Traditional Medicine Hall, a meditation and medical temple, a health and wellness practice area, a meditation and yoga practice room, and a medicinal herb garden…

Building on its achievements, the hospital continues to expand in new directions aligned with societal needs. In 2023, the Medical Tourism Unit was established, attracting hundreds of international patients and tourists.
