Construction continues throughout the holiday period to accelerate project progress.

To accelerate the project's progress, during the April 30th and May 1st holidays this year, the consortium of contractors at Component Project 2 of the Cao Lanh - An Huu Expressway Construction Project, Phase 1, organized construction work throughout the holidays. 38 construction teams were deployed.

Recognizing Component Project 2 as a key project of significant importance to socio-economic development, the consortium of contractors has focused all resources on accelerating progress. Due to the very short construction time, to ensure timely completion, the contractors agreed to work throughout the April 30th and May 1st holidays.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Vu Dinh Tuan, Deputy Head of the Truong Son 11 Project Management Board, Truong Son Construction Corporation (the leading contractor in the consortium), with the site currently handed over by the investor and the actual situation at the construction site, the consortium of contractors has deployed 38 construction teams. Currently, there are approximately 400 technical staff and workers on the site, along with over 180 pieces of machinery and equipment, simultaneously working on multiple project components.

During this year's April 30th and May 1st holidays, the consortium of contractors organized continuous construction work throughout the holidays to accelerate progress and ensure the project is completed on schedule. At the same time, they carried out quality and safety assurance work in accordance with the contract signed with the investor.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Vu Dinh Tuan, the biggest obstacle to the project currently is the long time required for surcharge loading and weak soil treatment. The consortium of contractors has identified locations requiring longer surcharge loading periods to prioritize construction. To date, the consortium has focused on surcharge loading at these locations, with durations ranging from 14 to 16 months.

Component Project 2 has a length of approximately 11.43 km and is managed by the People's Committee of Tien Giang province. Of this, about 3.8 km is located in Dong Thap province and about 7.63 km in Tien Giang province.

Component Project 2 starts at the intersection with Component Project 1 at Km16+000 in My Hiep commune, Cao Lanh district, Dong Thap province; and ends at the intersection with the Trung Luong - My Thuan expressway at approximately Km98+950 (about 1.8 km from the An Thai Trung interchange) in An Thai Trung commune, Cai Be district.

The total land area to be acquired for Component Project 2 is approximately 83,345 hectares (of which, Dong Thap province accounts for 28,363 hectares along a 3.98 km route and Tien Giang province accounts for 54,982 hectares along a 7.52 km route).

The total number of affected households is 680 (including 203 in Dong Thap province and 477 in Tien Giang province). The project has a total investment of VND 3,856 billion. The total allocated capital to date is VND 2,941 billion; of which, VND 910 billion is allocated for 2025.

For the intersection with Provincial Road 850 (the connection point with Component Project 1), the contractor will focus resources from equipment to personnel, especially prioritizing the sand supplied by Dong Thap province for the construction of this section. "The previous difficulty of the project was the long waiting time for the supply under the special mechanism, which took about 4 months."

Therefore, the construction time has been extended compared to the schedule. However, the contractor is making efforts to compensate for the delay. Currently, the consortium of contractors is focusing on completing the bridge section in 2025 to finish the project on schedule,” Lieutenant Colonel Vu Dinh Tuan added.

According to Mr. Nguyen Xuan Truong, representative of the consortium of consulting and supervision units, as of now, Component Project 2 has been under construction for more than 7 months. To date, the construction output has reached approximately 512/2,451 billion VND of the total construction value; the total value has reached about 21%. With this progress, the project is currently meeting the planned requirements.

CONTINUE ACCELERATING

During a site inspection on April 28th, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Phuong, Director of the Tien Giang Provincial Civil and Industrial Construction Investment Project Management Board, acknowledged and commended the efforts of the consulting and supervision unit and the contractors in implementing the project. The units have overcome difficulties, and the project's progress is now basically on schedule.

Contractors are focusing on applying load and treating weak soil foundations.

Regarding the supply of construction materials, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Phuong shared her understanding of the difficulties contractors are facing. She requested relevant units to study solutions to further accelerate the exploitation of sand mines granted under the special mechanism.

Specifically, units receiving sand for project construction need to accelerate the receiving process and proactively implement solutions to receive sand as quickly as possible. Contractors need to proactively contact suppliers of stone materials to bring them to the construction site. Regarding the soil needed for construction, contractors also need to be proactive from an early stage and in advance.

Due to objective reasons, Component Project 2 commenced approximately one year after Component Project 1. However, with the close attention and guidance of the Tien Giang Provincial People's Committee, the efforts of the investor and the consulting and supervision units and contractors, the project's difficulties have been gradually overcome to accelerate construction progress.

Comrade Nguyen Thi Thanh Phuong requested the contractor to accelerate the construction progress at the intersection with Provincial Road 850 to ensure synchronous connection when Component Project 1 is completed at the end of 2025. The consulting and supervision units and contractors should plan to increase shifts and work schedules to further accelerate construction progress while ensuring the quality of the project. At the same time, they should implement solutions to ensure labor safety, environmental hygiene, and traffic safety during the project implementation…

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Phuong, in the coming time, the investor will continue to inspect and promptly resolve difficulties and obstacles faced by contractors during the project's implementation. This will create favorable conditions for contractors to accelerate construction and ensure the project is completed according to schedule.
