The market for ornamental plants for Tet (Lunar New Year):

Although there are still more than three weeks until the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026, the market for ornamental plants and flowers for Tet has already started to become vibrant.

Observations show a clear differentiation in the prices of various flowering plants. While kumquat trees have increased in price due to weather conditions, peach blossoms and many other types of Tet flowers have maintained stable prices, making it easier for consumers to choose.

Compared to the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Snake 2025, the market for kumquat trees for Tet 2026 has seen a significant increase in prices.

While last year saw an abundant supply of kumquats and relatively favorable weather conditions that kept prices stable, this year, prolonged and harsh weather has directly impacted the trees' growth, from flowering and fruiting to maintaining their shape and canopy.

The percentage of plants meeting the standards for export has therefore decreased compared to the previous season, while the costs of fertilizer, labor, and transportation have all increased, driving up production costs.

Observations at kumquat orchards in Hung Yen and Ha Dong show that medium-sized kumquat trees are currently being offered for sale at around 800,000 VND per tree, higher than the same period last year.

Beautifully shaped kumquat trees with evenly rounded canopies, abundant fruit, and eye-catching colors can fetch prices ranging from several million dong per tree, depending on their shape and the care they receive.

Even small kumquat trees, which were considered a more economical option in previous years, now commonly cost between 200,000 and 400,000 VND per tree.

According to vendors, customers this year tend to visit kumquat tree shops earlier to choose their preferred trees, avoiding situations where prices continue to rise closer to Tet or beautiful trees become scarce.

Despite the higher prices, purchasing power remains quite strong, as kumquat trees are still a popular choice for many families during the traditional Lunar New Year.

In contrast to kumquat trees, the market for peach blossoms this Tet is considered relatively "easygoing," with prices generally remaining stable compared to last year.

At the sales points, customers can easily find decorative peach blossom branches for sale at prices ranging from 300,000 to 400,000 VND. Larger, beautifully shaped branches can cost up to around 1.5 million VND.

For peach blossom trees, prices vary quite widely, from about 1 million VND to 10 million VND per tree, depending on size, shape, and age. Price stability helps peach blossom trees continue to play a leading role in the Tet ornamental plant market, meeting the needs of traditional customers.

Besides kumquats and peach blossoms, this year's Tet flower market is also quite diverse with many varieties such as chrysanthemums, hydrangeas, gerberas, roses, camellias, etc., being sold at flower markets.

Gerbera daisies are priced from 100,000 to 120,000 VND per pot, while hydrangeas are recorded at around 200,000 VND per pot.
