Domestic coffee prices, updated at 4:30 AM on October 2nd, 2024, are as follows: The domestic coffee market saw a slight increase of 100 VND/kg today, ranging from 121,000 to 122,100 VND/kg. Currently, the average purchase price in the Central Highlands provinces is 121,000-122,000 VND/kg, with the highest purchase price in Dak Lak province at 122,100 VND/kg , reflecting a small difference in demand across different regions.
In Lam Dong province, coffee prices are being purchased at a relatively uniform rate, fluctuating around 121,100 VND/kg in the districts of Di Linh, Lam Ha, and Bao Loc.
In Dak Lak province, coffee prices show a more pronounced difference. Cu M'gar district recorded the highest price at 122,100 VND/kg, while Ea H'leo and Buon Ho districts had the same price of 122,000 VND/kg. This could be due to the higher quality of coffee in Cu M'gar or stronger demand for coffee in that area.
In Dak Nong province, coffee prices also show a slight difference between Gia Nghia and Dak R'lap districts, at 121,200 VND/kg and 121,100 VND/kg respectively.
Gia Lai province recorded relatively lower coffee prices compared to other provinces, at 121,000 VND/kg in Chu Prong district and 120,900 VND/kg in Pleiku and La Grai districts.
Finally, Kon Tum province has a coffee purchase price of 121,000 VND/kg, equivalent to the price in some districts of Gia Lai.
The price differences for coffee between provinces and districts can be explained by many factors such as coffee quality, purchasing demand, transportation costs, and other market-related factors.
However, overall, the coffee market today remains stable, with prices fluctuating only slightly, reflecting a balance between supply and demand.
The Central Highlands are entering the coffee harvest season, marking the beginning of the third quarter of the year. This year, the prolonged drought has created unprecedented challenges for coffee growers. Coffee production is projected to decrease by 10-15% compared to last year, as the drought has resulted in smaller coffee berries and beans, directly impacting harvest yields.
However, the coffee market is witnessing an unexpected phenomenon. Coffee prices are currently at a record high of 120,000 VND/ton, three times higher than the average. This sends a positive signal to coffee growers, giving them confidence to invest and maintain long-term production. Although production has decreased, the high price helps to partially offset the losses caused by the drought, ensuring income for the people.
In Lam Dong and Dak Lak provinces, the coffee harvest season has started earlier than expected. Although production has been affected by drought, high coffee prices have resulted in better incomes for growers compared to last year. Coffee farmers in these areas share that, despite lower yields, they are still able to earn profits equivalent to or even higher than last year.
It is expected that from the end of October 2024, when Vietnam enters its official harvest season, coffee production will increase again. With current coffee prices, Vietnam's coffee export industry promises to reach $6 billion, an impressive figure that will contribute to the country's economic growth.
