Advantages in attracting members
Previously, to inform and gather members, Ms. Le Thi Kim Lien, Head of Branch 4 of the Women's Union of Huong So Ward, Phu Xuan District, had to call and text each member individually; even going to their homes to discuss. “Since most members now use smartphones and have social media accounts, I only need to text the branch's Zalo and Facebook groups to disseminate information about programs and activities. There, members can exchange information directly and interact promptly. Through these groups, the union can promote the dissemination of information about exemplary individuals in emulation movements and campaigns, and implement directives from higher levels, the Party Committee, and the People's Committee of the ward to cadres and members in full,” Ms. Lien said.
Members of the Pho Lai village branch of the Women's Union in Quang Vinh commune, Quang Dien district, actively participate in the union's activities and movements, especially those focused on community service and protecting a green, clean, and beautiful environment. Thanks to information technology, issues at the grassroots level are updated and addressed quickly by union officials. "When mobilized to participate in movements, all members are present after a notification on the group page. If a member is sick or has an urgent problem such as domestic violence, they are notified and receive timely support. Thanks to this, members are more aware of the importance of connecting, uniting, and helping each other," shared Ms. Nguyen Thi Van, head of the Pho Lai village branch of the Women's Union.
Currently, grassroots Women's Union branches are equipped with computers connected to the internet, and their officials can proficiently use several IT applications to process documents on computers and smartphones such as Gmail, Zalo, and membership management software. 100% of Women's Union branches in communes and wards have established Facebook pages; and sub-branches have established Zalo groups. Images and effective activities showcasing successful models of grassroots mobilization, sports clubs , building happy families, the "5 No's, 3 Cleanliness" family model, supporting single and vulnerable women, turning waste into money, and the "Green Sunday" initiative have contributed to inspiring and creating a vibrant atmosphere of emulation among the branches.
