Attending and speaking at the ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh stated that throughout the thousands of years of the nation's history of building and defending the country, successive dynasties have defeated many invading enemies, maintaining the nation's independence and freedom. Countless generations of ancestors have sacrificed to achieve the beautiful land and nation we have today.
Generations in the Ho Chi Minh era continued to inherit and develop that heroic spirit, achieving many brilliant and glorious victories, writing further golden pages in the nation's history, and bringing the Vietnamese people to stand shoulder to shoulder with independent, free, peaceful , and developed nations around the world.

In a solemn and moving atmosphere, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, along with leaders of ministries and agencies and the people, respectfully laid flowers and incense and observed a minute of silence to commemorate the contributions of President Ho Chi Minh and the heroic martyrs who bravely sacrificed their lives for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.
According to the Prime Minister, during the wars of national liberation, border defense wars, and noble international missions of the 20th century, our country had approximately 1.2 million martyrs. Of these, more than 300,000 have not had their information fully found, and the place of sacrifice for 175,000 soldiers and martyrs has not been identified.
“Our country is honored and proud to have given birth to heroic martyrs – those who have brought glory to our nation. The Party, the State, and our people will forever remember the immense contributions of the heroic martyrs who sacrificed themselves for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland; for the happiness of the people. Today's generation pledges to live, fight, work, and study in a manner worthy of that noble sacrifice,” Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emotionally expressed.

According to the organizers, the Truong Son National Martyrs' Cemetery is the resting place of more than 10,263 martyrs, mostly soldiers who bravely sacrificed their lives on the legendary Ho Chi Minh Trail. Choosing this location for the National Candlelight Ceremony of Gratitude demonstrates profound appreciation and serves as a reminder to the younger generation of the immense sacrifices made by previous generations, especially in Quang Tri – one of the most fiercely contested battlefields of the war.
At the same time across the country , thousands of candles of gratitude were simultaneously lit at martyrs' cemeteries and memorials from North to South. These candles were lit not only for remembrance but also as a symbol of gratitude and the moral principle of "drinking water, remembering the source," and "eating the fruit, remembering the tree planter," which generations of young people today cherish and promote.

On this occasion, within the framework of activities to express gratitude and remember those who sacrificed for the country, commemorating the 78th anniversary of the Day of War Invalids and Martyrs, and looking forward to the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2nd, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh presented 80 gifts of appreciation to policy beneficiary families and those who rendered meritorious services to the revolution in the locality.
In addition, young people nationwide have actively organized many practical activities such as caring for and repairing cemeteries, visiting and supporting families of wounded soldiers and martyrs... Notably, the Skyline youth group has pioneered the use of AI technology to restore and donate 80 portraits of martyrs to their relatives.

At the commemoration ceremony, delegates, union members, and young people laid flowers, offered incense, and lit candles at all 10,263 graves of martyrs who sacrificed their lives on the Ho Chi Minh Trail .
