In fact, in recent years, especially in 2024, the admission scores for many pedagogical majors at a series of schools have been so high that even excellent students have failed in large numbers.
In 2024, the admission benchmark based on the high school graduation exam scores of Hanoi National University of Education ranges from 22 to 29.3 points. Of which, up to 8 pedagogical majors have benchmark scores above 28 and many majors have scores above 27 according to the combination of 3 exam subjects.
With this benchmark score, candidates who score 9 points per subject will also fail. Only the highest benchmark score for literature and history education is 29.3 points, candidates must score an average of nearly 9.8 points per subject.

At Ho Chi Minh City University of Education , in 2024, the number of candidates registering for admission increased unprecedentedly with more than 31,000 candidates, double that of 2023. Notably, the number of candidates registering for admission to the school reached 51,625, an increase of 120% compared to 2023.
This school has also seen thousands of excellent students give up their chances to study pedagogy due to high admission scores. Many of the school’s pedagogical courses require candidates to score nearly 10 points per subject to be admitted.
Specifically, according to the method of considering high school transcripts, the standard score ranges from 25.4 to 29.81.
The major with the highest benchmark score is chemistry education with 29.81 points. The next majors with the highest benchmark scores are math education with 29.55 points; physics education with 29.48 points; biology education with 29.46 points...
Thus, to be admitted to these majors, candidates must achieve a score of 10 points/subject for each subject in the subject group.

Other majors with standard scores above 27 and 28 points, excellent students with 9 points/subject also failed in large numbers.
According to school statistics, just by considering transcript scores, more than 14,000 excellent students failed to leave the school.
For the high school graduation score method, the standard score for some majors increased by more than 5 points, ranging from 21.9 to 28.6 at the main campus.
The two majors of history pedagogy and literature pedagogy have the highest score of 28.6 points; geography pedagogy has a standard score of 28.37 and many other training majors have a standard score above 27. Candidates with a score of 9 points/subject must also find other opportunities.
According to statistics from the Ministry of Education and Training, in 2024, more than 733,000 candidates registered for university and college admission in preschool education (equivalent to 68.5% of the number of candidates taking the 2024 high school graduation exam). This is also the year with the highest number of candidates registering for university admission in the past three years.
Notably, the field with the highest increase in registration wishes compared to 2023 is educational science and teacher training, increasing by 85% (equivalent to an increase of about 200,000 wishes).

According to the Ministry of Education and Training, one of the main reasons attracting candidates to study pedagogy is the policy of supporting living expenses and tuition fees according to Decree 116/2020 implemented over the past three years.
This Decree stipulates that teacher training students are supported by the state with tuition fees equal to the tuition fees charged by the teacher training institution where they study. At the same time, students are supported by the state with 3.63 million VND/month to cover living expenses during their time at school and for no more than 10 months/school year.
In the near future, the Law on Teachers will officially take effect from the beginning of 2026, teachers' salaries will be ranked highest in the administrative career salary scale system, which is expected to continue to be a "boost" for the education sector in the coming years.
These will be the factors that attract good students to pedagogy while the quota of schools is limited. The pedagogy industry has become a "race" for good students with increasingly fierce competition, the benchmark score is predicted to always be in the highest group of professions.
