Champions League 2025/26 qualifying round draw date

The draw for the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League qualifying round will take place on August 28, promising to bring many interesting surprises.

Champions League 2025/26 is likely to have many attractive matches.

This is the second season that UEFA has adopted a 36-team format. This includes last season's European Cup winners PSG (Champions League winners) and Tottenham (Europa League winners), 27 teams qualified by their league rankings in UEFA's national leagues, and seven places from the play-off winners.

In the draw, the 36 participating teams will be divided into four seeding pots based on the UEFA coefficient rankings. The reigning Champions League champions (PSG) are placed in Pot 1.

The draw will begin with Pot 1. A ball containing each team's name will be drawn before the automated software (which has been in use since last season) assigns them eight opponents.

Each team will play eight matches in the qualifying round, four away and four home. Teams cannot face opponents from the same country and no more than two clubs from the same footballing background will play. This process will be repeated for teams until all the matches have been decided.

The 2025/26 UEFA Champions League qualifying round fixtures will be announced on August 30.

The qualifying round is scheduled to take place from September 16, 2025 to January 28, 2026. The knockout stages and semi-finals will be held from January 17, 2026 to May 6, 2026. The final will be played on May 30, 2026 at the Puskas Arena in Budapest, Hungary.

PSG suffered a crushing defeat to Chelsea in the Club World Cup final. Early morning on July 14, PSG lost to Chelsea 0-3 in the match to decide the Club World Cup title.
