High consensus with the Project on rearranging administrative units at commune and provincial levels

The Conference of the Executive Committee of the Binh Thuan Provincial Party Committee was successfully held, agreeing on the policy on the Project to rearrange the three provinces of Binh Thuan, Lam Dong, Dak Nong and approving the Project to rearrange the commune-level administrative units (ADUs) of Binh Thuan province.

On the morning of April 25, the Executive Committee of the Binh Thuan Provincial Party Committee held a Provincial Party Committee Conference to give opinions on the Project on rearranging commune-level administrative units in Binh Thuan Province and the Project on rearranging provincial-level administrative units. Comrade Nguyen Hoai Anh - Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee chaired the conference.

Also attending the conference were comrades: Dang Hong Sy - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee - Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation; Do Huu Huy - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee - Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; comrades of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, members of the Provincial Party Executive Committee and leaders of a number of relevant departments, branches and sectors.

Speaking at the conference, Comrade Nguyen Hoai Anh - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee emphasized: The arrangement and consolidation of provincial and commune-level administrative units is a major policy of the Party. In the past time, closely following the instructions of the Central Government, Binh Thuan province has focused on leading and directing the serious implementation, in accordance with the procedures, regulations and requirements of the Central Government and the province on the arrangement and streamlining of the apparatus. The Standing Committee and the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee have spent a lot of time giving opinions on the contents within their authority. In addition, implementing Resolution 60 of the 11th Conference of the 13th Party Central Committee, the three provinces of Binh Thuan, Lam Dong and Dak Nong have also coordinated to organize the development of a Project to establish a new province, Lam Dong province. The Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, the Party Committee of the Provincial People's Committee, the Standing Committees of districts, towns and cities have also taken steps according to regulations to collect voters' opinions, collect opinions of People's Councils at commune and district levels on the Project on rearranging commune-level administrative units of Binh Thuan province and the Project on rearranging provincial-level administrative units. The results of collecting voters' opinions showed high consensus from the people on both projects. The majority of voters agreed with the rearrangement of commune-level administrative units and the merger of the three provinces of Binh Thuan, Lam Dong and Dak Nong. The percentage of voters agreeing with both projects was over 98%. 121/121 People's Councils at commune level and 10/10 People's Councils at district, town and city levels approved the policy on rearranging provincial-level administrative units and the policy on rearranging commune-level administrative units of Binh Thuan province in 2025.

At the conference, delegates focused on discussing and giving opinions on the Report of the Provincial Party Committee and People's Committee asking for opinions on the Project to rearrange and reorganize commune-level administrative units of Binh Thuan province; Project to rearrange Lam Dong, Binh Thuan and Dak Nong provinces.

After discussion, the Provincial Party Executive Committee conducted a secret ballot and unanimously approved the Project on rearranging commune-level administrative units of Binh Thuan province. Accordingly, after the rearrangement, Binh Thuan will have 45 commune-level administrative units, including 36 communes and 8 wards, 1 Phu Quy special zone, reducing 76 commune-level administrative units, reaching a rate of 62.8%, ensuring the regulations of the Central Government. Regarding the Project on rearranging Lam Dong, Binh Thuan and Dak Nong provinces, the conference also voted unanimously to establish a new provincial-level administrative unit on the basis of merging the entire natural area and population size of Lam Dong province (9,781.2 km², 1,595,597 people), Binh Thuan (7,942.6 km², 1,531,253 people) and Dak Nong (6,509.27 km², 746,149 people). The new province will be named Lam Dong province, directly under the Central Government, with the administrative center located in Da Lat city, Lam Dong province today.

The Provincial People's Council voted to pass the resolution.

Also in the afternoon of the same day, at the 34th session, the People's Council of Binh Thuan province passed the Resolution on the arrangement of commune-level administrative units of Binh Thuan province in 2025 and the Project on the arrangement of provincial-level administrative units.
