According to a preliminary report from the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Phu Tho province, the fire at Pho Quang Pagoda (Xuan Lung commune, Lam Thao district, Phu Tho province) on the morning of October 23rd caused approximately 25 billion VND in damage.
Specifically, at the main temple, all the wooden structures, the tiled roof, and the electrical system were damaged by fire; the clay and wooden statues inside the temple were damaged by the heat; and the temple's facilities were completely destroyed.

The national treasure, the stone Buddhist altar (Lotus Stone Pedestal), has been observed to have two broken corners of the lotus petals on the 5th tier (top tier) and one broken corner of the lotus petal on the 4th tier.
Earlier, at around 9:45 AM on October 23rd, residents discovered a fire at Pho Quang Pagoda (also known as Xuan Lung Pagoda) in Zone 4, Xuan Lung Commune, Lam Thao District, Phu Tho Province.
Immediately after receiving the report, the People's Committee of Xuan Lung commune notified and mobilized forces along with local people to provide assistance.
Speaking with a reporter from Giao Thong Newspaper, a leader of the Lam Thao District People's Committee said that the Lam Thao District People's Committee is currently assessing the damage and will report to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism because this is a national historical site. For now, security forces are securing the scene to facilitate the investigation into the cause of the fire.
Speaking to a reporter from Giao Thong Newspaper, Ms. Phung Thi Phuong Loan, Chairwoman of the People's Committee of Xuan Lung commune, also said that this afternoon, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will come to the scene to assess the damage.

At the same time, continue to review and compile statistics on the damage caused by the fire; propose a plan for the restoration and renovation of Pho Quang Pagoda, focusing investment, balancing budget resources, and actively mobilizing social resources to carry out the restoration and renovation of the historical site as soon as possible, meeting the religious needs of the people.
Strengthen the implementation of measures to protect national treasures; research and propose methods for preserving and protecting the national treasure, the stone Buddhist altar.
