On the afternoon of April 28th, the Ministry of Transport, in coordination with Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces, held a ceremony to inaugurate and put into operation a 30km section of the expressway from Dien Chau (National Highway 7 intersection, Dien Cat commune, Dien Chau district, Nghe An) to National Highway 46B intersection (Hung Tay commune, Hung Nguyen district, Nghe An).

This section of the highway has a roadbed width of 17 meters with 4 lanes (2 lanes on each side), allowing cars to travel at a maximum speed of 90 km/h and a minimum speed of 60 km/h.
The Dien Chau - Bai Vot component project has a total length of 49.3 km, passing through two provinces: Nghe An (44.4 km) and Ha Tinh (4.9 km), with a total investment of VND 11,157 billion. The project commenced in May 2021 under the PPP (Public-Private Partnership) model, and is being constructed by a consortium comprising Hoa Hiep Co., Ltd., CIENCO 4 Group Joint Stock Company, Nui Hong Investment Co., Ltd., Truong Son Construction Corporation, and VINA2 Investment and Construction Joint Stock Company.

The 30-kilometer section of the Dien Chau - National Highway 46B expressway has been opened to traffic.
To date, the remaining 19 km of this project, from National Highway 46B to Bai Vot, is still being actively constructed by contractors and is expected to be completed in September of this year.
Thus, to date, the North-South Expressway has extended from the Phap Van Expressway ( Hanoi ) to Vinh City (Nghe An province), with a total length of 280 km. This expressway has shortened the travel time from Hanoi to Vinh City (Nghe An province) from over 5 hours if traveling on National Highway 1A to approximately 4 hours.
