Two sections of the Ben Luc expressway are temporarily open to traffic.

The opening of two sections of the Ben Luc – Long Thanh expressway will create new routes to help reduce traffic congestion during the period leading up to the Lunar New Year.

On January 23rd (the 24th day of the 12th lunar month), the Vietnam Expressway Investment and Development Corporation (VEC) put into temporary operation two sections of the Ben Luc – Long Thanh expressway: the section from the Trung Luong interchange to the National Highway 1A interchange and the section from the Phuoc An interchange to the National Highway 51 interchange.

During the temporary operation period, trucks weighing over 10 tons; specialized vehicles with a design speed of less than 70 km/h; motorcycles, two-wheeled motorbikes; tractors, three-wheeled motorbikes, and mopeds (including electric motorbikes) are not allowed on the expressway.

Vehicles eligible to travel on the expressway have a maximum permitted speed of 60 km/h on the main section from Ben Luc to Ho Chi Minh City. Within interchanges, the speed limit is 40 km/h. For access roads and other branches, the speed limit is 50 km/h. A safe distance of more than 35 meters must be maintained between vehicles at a speed of 60 km/h.

On the section passing through Dong Nai, the permitted operating speed on the main route is 100 km/h, with a minimum speed of 60 km/h. Within interchange areas, the speed limit is 40 km/h. For access roads and other branches, the speed limit is 50 km/h.

The safe distance between vehicles should be greater than 70 meters at a speed of 100 km/h.

VEC stated that no road usage fees will be collected during the temporary operation phase.

The temporary opening of the two sections of the Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway has been timely in serving the increased travel demand of people during the Lunar New Year 2025.

In particular, these two expressways create new routes, helping people avoid traffic congestion points on National Highway 1 through Long An and National Highway 51 through Dong Nai province.

Currently, VEC and its contractors are accelerating the construction progress of the remaining sections in order to put the entire project into operation this year.
