Thanks to this, choosing the right grooming service for pets is no longer a difficult task, giving pet owners more options.

According to Ms. Truong Trinh Minh Thu, a resident of Binh Duc ward, the idea of opening a pet spa came from her sister, who recognized the potential market and the growth of this service. Having a love for animals, Ms. Minh Thu decided to take a 6-month professional course in Can Tho City to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills, giving her the confidence to enter the pet care profession.

Mr. Nguyen Hoang Huy, a resident of Binh Duc ward, is a veterinarian who now runs a pet grooming spa with his wife, Ms. Minh Thu. “The spa offers affordable pet grooming services suitable for a wide range of customers. Basic services include bathing, trimming, and hygiene (cleaning paws and ears). A special feature of the spa is the pick-up and drop-off service. A single grooming session with bathing, hygiene, nail trimming, and pick-up costs between 60,000 and 70,000 VND; when combined with grooming and beauty services such as trimming and styling, the price ranges from 200,000 to 250,000 VND per session. Depending on the breed of dog or cat and the owner's preferences, the spa offers services ranging from simple short haircuts to elaborate styling,” Mr. Huy explained.

For many people who don't own pets, grooming their dogs and cats may seem unnecessary and expensive. However, for those who consider them family members, maintaining their appearance is extremely important. A clean dog or cat not only keeps them healthy and free from skin diseases or parasites, but also protects the health of the family, especially the elderly and young children. Therefore, keeping pets clean and beautiful is essentially protecting the health of your loved ones.

According to Huy, for pets with skin diseases, the spa uses specialized medicated shampoos. Huy encourages customers to take their pets to the veterinarian for a suitable treatment plan, after which the spa will provide care according to the veterinarian's instructions. Although it is a budget-friendly spa, all products and equipment used are specialized and specifically for dogs and cats. After each use, the equipment is sterilized to ensure hygiene and safety.

“To retain customers, the spa always prioritizes love and patience. For pets visiting the spa for the first time, staff take the time to get acquainted and pet them to make them feel secure. For aggressive pets, we approach them slowly and only perform simple procedures, then schedule a follow-up appointment with the owner to gradually familiarize them with the new environment. As a result, many aggressive dogs and cats have become docile and cooperative. This has built strong trust with customers, and they are willing to entrust their pets to the spa for care,” said Ms. Minh Thu.

Occupational hazards are unavoidable, especially when dealing with pets unfamiliar with strangers. This profession carries the risk of scratches and bites, particularly from cats, so Huy and his staff always wear protective gear. The spa also requires customers to ensure their pets are fully vaccinated before using any services.

After operating for some time, Ms. Thu's Puppy Spa has a stable base of regular customers. During holidays and Tet (Lunar New Year), the number of customers bringing their pets for grooming and beauty treatments increases. Mr. and Mrs. Huy will continue to invest in improving the quality of services to attract more customers and expand their business. They believe that with dedication and love for animals, this work will bring stable income and joy to those who work in pet grooming and beauty services.
