Traffic vehicles are increasing rapidly, but infrastructure conditions have not kept up, so ensuring traffic safety is an urgent issue, especially for students.

In reality, students violating traffic safety laws is still quite common, especially middle and high school students who go to school by electric bicycles, electric motorbikes, and motorbikes even though they are not of legal age. Many students do not wear helmets; they drive side by side, speed, overtake, and weave in and out, which makes traffic accidents very likely to occur.

According to Mr. Phan Duc Tien - Chief of Office of the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee, students are at high risk of traffic accidents because they are not aware of how to drive safely, and do not know how to control their emotions, so they get on the bike and drive excitedly without thinking about the dangers lurking ahead.

Traffic accidents seriously affect the health, education, and future of children as well as have consequences for their families, schools, and society. The above situation is truly alarming and needs the attention of the whole society, especially the maximum responsibility of parents.

To do this, parents need to educate their children about obeying traffic laws from an early age. When picking up and dropping off children, they need to stop the car in the designated area, not parking on the street causing traffic jams.

Parents should never let their children drive motorbikes if they are not old enough. If they are old enough but do not have a driver’s license, parents should not let their children drive motorbikes. Parents should also set an example by wearing helmets when riding motorbikes and require their children to do the same, even when traveling short distances.

For the future of their children, parents should eliminate the mindset of leaving it up to the school and authorities. Because first of all, the care and education of parents will ensure the health and psychological development of children. In addition, the authorities should focus on handling violations that pose a risk of causing traffic accidents for students.

Any student who violates the rules will be notified to the school and family for appropriate disciplinary action and education. In particular, parents who pick up and drop off students who violate traffic safety regulations near the school, such as stopping or parking illegally on the road; driving in the wrong lane; not wearing a helmet; not paying attention when changing direction, etc.
