The 34th Corps concludes the 2026 Civil Defense Sports Competition.

(GLO) - On May 21, the 34th Army Corps concluded the 2026 Civil Defense Sports Festival. Attending the closing ceremony were Major General Tran Cong Duc - Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of the 34th Army Corps and Major General Nguyen Tran Long - Deputy Political Commissar of the Army Corps.

The sports competition involved over 60 coaches and athletes from three units: the 9th Division, the 10th Division, and the 34th Corps Staff Headquarters. After three days of exciting competition, all planned events were completed, ensuring strict adherence to regulations, seriousness, and absolute safety.

The participating teams competed in various theoretical and practical categories. The general knowledge section focused on the following topics: the Law on Civil Defense, the Law on Emergency Situations, the Law on Environmental Protection, and the unit's responsibilities.

In the practical section, the teams performed tasks such as handling and responding to fire and explosion incidents, dealing with toxic chemicals, dealing with radiation and environmental incidents, and shooting with the K54 pistol.

According to the Organizing Committee's assessment, the agencies and units proactively made good preparations; organized serious training sessions, and participated in the sports competition with a high sense of responsibility.

The participating forces calmly and confidently handled the situations effectively, demonstrating their coordination and cooperation skills, as well as their capacity to perform civil defense tasks.

The sports competition is an opportunity for the 34th Army Corps to assess the level of organizational command, combat readiness, disaster prevention and response capabilities, search and rescue, and incident recovery of its agencies and units.

This will contribute to improving the quality of training, the ability to handle situations, and building a civil defense force that meets the requirements of the mission in the new situation.

Following the competition, the 34th Army Corps will select athletes to form a team to participate in the all-army competition. At the end of the competition, the Organizing Committee awarded a certificate of merit to the General Staff for winning first place; certificates of merit to the 9th and 10th Divisions for winning second place; and certificates of merit to three individuals with outstanding achievements.
