Innovation from the training ground
At the training ground of Militia Cluster No. 2, more than 200 first-year militia soldiers from Vu Ninh, Nam Son, and Hap Linh wards are enthusiastically practicing. During this training session, the militia soldiers are divided into small groups, each focusing on different training content such as: shooting, disassembling and assembling weapons, grenade throwing, and drill regulations. Despite coming from different backgrounds, the soldiers, aware of their responsibilities and duties, participate in the training with enthusiasm and seriousness.
Comrade Nguyen Minh Quang, a first-year militia soldier from Vu Ninh ward ( Bac Ninh province), said: "These are not simple tasks; they require a thorough understanding of the entire theoretical content, followed by practical exercises. This will be the basis for ensuring technical and tactical skills, and absolute safety during live-fire tests."

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Vien, Deputy Commander of the Military Command of Vu Ninh Ward, emphasized: "To prepare for the training, the Military Command of Vu Ninh Ward proactively advised the Party Committee and the People's Committee to direct the Party committees and authorities of the residential areas and neighborhoods to resolutely implement measures to bring about a clear change in the etiquette and conduct of officers and soldiers, and to ensure the number of personnel participating in the training. The Military Command of Vu Ninh Ward, together with the two units of Nam Son and Hap Linh, established an organizing committee, a team of instructors, developed a plan, formed training clusters, assigned targets, and did a good job of preparing materials, lesson plans, teaching models, weapons and equipment, training grounds, and practice areas."
During the training process, officers from the Military Command of the three wards were assigned to closely monitor the situation at the grassroots level, ensuring that the training was thorough, serious, correct, and complete in terms of content and time as prescribed, promptly correcting weaknesses, and organizing daily and weekly debriefing sessions.
To ensure traffic safety and absolute safety during training, along with maintaining and stabilizing the number of participants, the host units of the training clusters proactively prepared well, especially by coordinating with mass organizations such as youth, women's, and medical organizations to ensure logistical support for the soldiers participating in the training. According to Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Vien, to create enthusiasm in each training session, the teaching staff actively researched, studied, and improved their pedagogical skills, practical knowledge, and teaching abilities. Through this, they built political qualities, created unity in awareness and action among each militia member; helped them understand their position and tasks in the new situation, and propagated and mobilized the people to understand the task of protecting the Fatherland.
Connecting training with local practical situations.
Training Cluster No. 8 (Dong Nguyen and Tam Son wards) is an area with many industrial zones and clusters, and a large, fluctuating workforce. This places high demands on the organization and mobilization of forces for training. To overcome these difficulties, the Military Command of the two wards proactively advised the Party Committee and the local government to strengthen propaganda and mobilization efforts, raising people's awareness of the role of the militia in national construction and defense. As a result, the selection and ensuring of personnel for training were carried out effectively.

Training session for first-year militia soldiers in Phat Tich commune (Bac Ninh province). |
At the beginning of the 2026 training season, two wards organized the recruitment of 130 new soldiers and implemented training according to plan. On the training ground, the training atmosphere was lively and serious. Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Huu Ban, Deputy Political Commissar of the Tam Son Ward Military Command, shared: "The unit pays special attention to improving the quality of the training staff. Along with sending them for training, officers are encouraged to self-study, self-research, update their knowledge, and innovate teaching methods to create attractiveness in each lesson. During the training process, inspection and experience sharing are carried out regularly, promptly correcting shortcomings and improving the quality of each content. As a result, the technical and tactical level of the militia force is increasingly improved, ensuring safety in training."
One of the key factors contributing to improving the quality of militia training in Bac Ninh is the integration of training with practical tasks in the locality. Colonel Nguyen Khac Trung, Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of the Bac Ninh Provincial Military Command, said: "The units not only train purely in military matters but also combine it with content related to ensuring security and order, disaster prevention and control, and rescue operations; while actively participating in civilian affairs work. The Provincial Military Command directs the defense command boards of regions 1, 2, 3, and 4 to strengthen the deployment of officers to the grassroots level to directly guide, inspect, and help units overcome weaknesses and improve the quality of training. At the same time, they organize strict inspections and evaluations of each content, ensuring it is substantive and not just a formality. After each training session, the units will conduct live-fire tests using real explosives, helping soldiers become familiar with the real environment and enhance their courage and psychological readiness when performing their duties."
This year, Bac Ninh province aims for 100% of communes, wards, self-defense units, and militia officers and soldiers to successfully complete the training content and program; striving for 100% of trainees to meet the requirements upon completion of training and inspection, with 35% achieving a good or excellent rating. Assessments show that the vast majority of officers and soldiers strictly adhere to regulations and actively train to improve their awareness and proficiency in using the weapons they are equipped with, as well as their individual and unit-level techniques and tactics.
