Gender equality is not only a right but also a crucial element in maintaining family happiness. When family members are respected and have equal voices, the home truly becomes a haven of love and sharing. In modern life, an equal family environment is also essential for children to receive a holistic education , learn to love, and develop self-confidence.

Psychologists believe that equality is an expression of respect – a crucial foundation for maintaining a lasting marriage. In a marital relationship, understanding and companionship are always decisive factors in preserving family happiness. The story of Mr. Nguyen Van Tai and Mrs. Nguyen Thi Be, residing in Vinh Thong ward, is a clear example of this. After more than 40 years together, their love remains strong thanks to their sharing and mutual support in overcoming difficulties. Mrs. Be shared: “When our children were young, the family was struggling, and my husband worked various jobs to make ends meet. Because I felt sorry for him working so hard, I took care of the housework, looked after the children, and raised them. Life was tough, but my husband and I were always harmonious, loving, and supportive of each other. We always discussed everything together before making any decisions.”

Mr. Tài and Mrs. Bé have three daughters and one son. Throughout their upbringing, they treated their children equally, without discrimination between boys and girls. Their exemplary lives served as a role model for their children. Today, all four children are grown up, have their own happy families, and are actively working to develop their economic lives .

In every family, equality is not only reflected in respect but also in sharing responsibilities and household chores. According to Mr. Huynh Chi Linh, residing in Kien Luong commune, equality in the family begins with very small things. Knowing his wife is busy with her business, after work he often helps clean the house and cook with her. Mr. Linh shared: "Many people still think that cooking and cleaning are women's responsibilities, but I see the family as a shared home, so both husband and wife have a responsibility to care for and nurture it. When sharing household chores, I understand and love my wife even more."

Gender equality is becoming increasingly evident today as more and more women confidently take control of their finances, assert their self-worth, and are given opportunities for development. The family of Ms. Huynh Thi Thuy and Mr. Nguyen Minh Tam, residing in Chau Thanh commune, is a prime example. Despite having two daughters, the couple has no intention of having more children because they both understand the importance of gender equality in marriage and family. After nearly 10 years of marriage, they have maintained a happy relationship thanks to their mutual support and sharing in life.

According to Ms. Thuy, modern women not only take care of their families but also participate in many social activities and build their own careers. The notion that men are the sole breadwinners is no longer relevant, as many women are also very capable of earning a living. "What women need most is still the care, encouragement, and companionship from their partners," Ms. Thuy said.

In reality, when gender equality is promoted within each family, happiness will have the conditions to be nurtured and spread. This is also an important foundation for building a just, civilized, and sustainably developed society.
