Accordingly, the visit takes place in the context of Vietnam-Japan relations being in a period of positive development, with the latest milestone being the upgrading of relations between the two countries to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity in Asia and the World (November 2023).

During the initial activities of the visit, the delegation held meetings with the Vice Chairman of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party, Aso Taro, and the Secretary-General of the Liberal Democratic Party, Motegi Toshimitsu; received the Governor of Wakayama Prefecture, Shuhei Kishimoto; and met with exemplary officials and party members of the Party Committee and the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan.

During the meetings, the Standing Committee member of the Party Central Committee informed about the important and comprehensive results achieved by Vietnam in many fields after nearly 40 years of Doi Moi (Renovation), especially the outstanding achievements in socio-economic development, Party building and the political system, and foreign affairs from the beginning of the 13th Party Congress term to the present.

Highly appreciating the strong, comprehensive, and substantive development of relations between the two countries after 50 years of establishing diplomatic relations, Comrade Truong Thi Mai affirmed that Vietnam consistently values ​​the comprehensive strategic partnership with Japan; and is ready to cooperate with the Government, the Liberal Democratic Party, and other political parties and localities of Japan to further develop bilateral relations in a comprehensive and in-depth manner, commensurate with the new position and level of bilateral relations.

To further deepen Vietnam-Japan relations in the new phase, the Standing Committee member of the Party Central Committee suggested that both sides, especially the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan, leverage the roles of the two ruling parties in promoting the concretization of the high-level common understanding and important contents of the "Joint Statement on Upgrading Vietnam-Japan Bilateral Relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity in Asia and the World"; strengthen political relations through visits and contacts of high-level leaders from both sides through Party, State, Government, Parliament and people-to-people diplomacy channels; and promote economic cooperation and in other fields, as well as local exchanges, to continuously progress in a substantive manner, in line with the sustainable development orientation of both countries.

He also expressed his gratitude and hope that Japan would continue to pay attention to and create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community living and working in Japan.

Leaders of the Liberal Democratic Party and local authorities in Japan highly appreciated the visit of Comrade Truong Thi Mai and the delegation, and strongly agreed with the proposals of the Standing Committee of the Party Central Committee aimed at deepening and enhancing the effectiveness of Japan-Vietnam cooperation. Japan always values ​​and considers Vietnam a crucial comprehensive strategic partner in the region; and is ready to work with the Vietnamese Party and State to improve the effectiveness of bilateral cooperation in various fields.

The Liberal Democratic Party highly values ​​and is ready to promote friendly relations with the Communist Party of Vietnam; supports Japan's continued partnership with Vietnam in industrialization and modernization, strengthening the connection between the two economies and cooperation in areas oriented towards sustainable development and cooperation on international issues; and actively promotes local exchanges and people's organizations of the two countries to enhance mutual understanding and consolidate the friendly foundation of Japan-Vietnam relations.

At a meeting with exemplary officials and Party members of the Party Committee and the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan, the Standing Committee member of the Party Central Committee briefed them on the major aspects of domestic development, the Party and State's policies and guidelines on socio-economic development, foreign affairs, and the implementation of tasks set forth by the 13th Party Congress, as well as preparations for the 14th Party Congress.

To ensure that Vietnam-Japan relations have reached their current level of development, Comrade Truong Thi Mai acknowledged and highly appreciated the positive contributions of the representative agencies. She also requested that the collective of cadres and Party members of the Party Committee and the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan continue to uphold the fine traditions and achievements, striving to excellently fulfill the tasks assigned by the Party and State, contributing to consolidating and promoting the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Japan, ensuring its sustainable development for the benefit of the people of both countries and for peace, cooperation, and development in the region and the world.
