Actively promoting digital transformation in tourism operations.

From attracting only the attention of large businesses, the management, business operations, and promotion of tourism have now been moved to the digital environment by most tourism service businesses.

Actively promoting digital transformation in tourism operations. Pù Luông Casa Resort (Bá Thước district) uses ASM software in managing its accommodation operations.

The Thanh Hoa tourism portal at dulichthanhhoa.org is increasingly attracting the attention of the public and tourists. The portal not only updates tourism news within the province but also provides diverse information on linked itineraries, suggested itineraries, and transportation options, helping tourists be more proactive in their trips and in finding services, accommodations, and food. Through this portal, tourists also gain data and information about hotels, resorts, villas, and homestays in Thanh Hoa and other tourist destinations nationwide. In addition, there are hundreds of articles introducing and updating cultural, sports , and tourism events taking place in the province. Furthermore, images of Thanh Hoa tourism in recent years have been widely promoted to tourists through social media, creating a significant reach and attracting visitors with the message "Thanh Hoa Tourism - The Beauty of Four Seasons".

Also in the digital environment, many destinations in the province, such as Ho Dynasty Citadel, Lam Kinh Historical Site, Pu Luong Community Ecotourism Area, Nua Temple - Am Tien Historical Site, Sam Son scenic area, and the Provincial Museum, have been vividly introduced. Through digital applications such as virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), along with automatic commentary systems or QR code scanning, tourists can proactively learn about the destination, experiencing a multi-dimensional, panoramic, and professional tourism experience.

Along with developing destinations, the application of digital technology in management and business services has recently been implemented to varying degrees by most tourism businesses in the province. This includes focusing on investing in website development, data digitization, and conducting business on digital platforms. Several travel agencies such as Lac Hong Travel, Le Gia Travel, VNPlus Travel, Huu Nghi Tour, Long Hai Travel, Trust Viet Travel, etc., have intensified the promotion and provision of tours and services online on social media platforms, building brand identity and strengthening customer outreach through online channels.

Nguyen Minh Hieu, CEO of Huu Nghi International Tourism Joint Stock Company (Thanh Hoa City), said: "In recent years, we have implemented digital technology across the board, from customer care and product/service promotion to managing the company's overall operations. This has not only saved time and costs but also optimized management and operations, providing tourists with better service experiences. For example, through our social media platforms and website, customers can easily compare and learn about tour programs, which is convenient for both customers and service providers, saving them the time spent on consultations compared to traditional methods."

For accommodation establishments, the use of management software such as ASM, KiotViet, Smile, etc., has contributed to improved management efficiency, tighter control at all stages, reduced staffing, and enhanced service quality. Among these, ASM software is being widely adopted by many accommodation businesses, with four main functions: managing the accommodation facility; managing guests staying at the facility; managing services provided; and managing staff through the process from guest arrival to check-out.

Mr. Lo Van Quan (Pu Luong Casa Resort, Ba Thuoc) said: "The resort has 35 rooms and can accommodate up to 100 guests at a time. At times, the rooms are fully booked, leading to overcrowding in the reception and service process. However, with the application of software in management and service business, all management and operational activities are convenient and accurate. The ASM accommodation management software is directly connected to the national population database. After guests register for services, the reception department enters the information, scans the chip code on the citizen ID card into the system, and the software immediately updates the registration information and sends it to the police. This helps both businesses and state management agencies reduce the process of storing records and documents, and speeds up the reception and service of tourists."

The benefits of digital technology applications have brought many advantages to both tourists and local authorities and tourism businesses. Therefore, Thanh Hoa province is continuing to implement tasks under the project "Building an electronic information portal on tourism and smart tourism applications on mobile devices in Thanh Hoa province"; and deploying a project to maintain the operation of the information system and database for managing tourism activities in Thanh Hoa province in 2024. Simultaneously, appropriate mechanisms and policies are being developed to support digital transformation in key businesses and tourist areas, with priority given to areas such as developing digital infrastructure, smart management platforms, and digital transformation training... in order to promote synchronized digital transformation in the tourism sector.
