Tien Giang: Launching the Month of mobilizing and implementing universal social insurance

By the end of 2024, Tien Giang will have a social insurance coverage rate of 33.22% of the working-age workforce, exceeding the target assigned by the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, and Provincial People's Committee by 1.22%. Of which, over 30,700 people participate in voluntary social insurance (the highest ever).

The health insurance coverage rate reached 95.88%, exceeding 1.88% of the target assigned by the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, and Provincial People's Committee. Of which, the number of people participating in household health insurance accounted for 36% of the total number of people participating in health insurance.

However, through the synthesis of data up to the end of April 2025, the number of people participating in voluntary social insurance and health insurance showed signs of decreasing compared to the end of 2024; of which, voluntary social insurance decreased by nearly 5,300 people, health insurance decreased by over 17,500 people.

Launching the campaign to respond to the Month of mobilizing and implementing social insurance for all people, Director of Tien Giang Social Insurance Vo Khanh Binh said: The purpose of the launching ceremony is to strengthen propaganda on the coordination of organizing the implementation of Resolution 28-NQ/TW of the 7th Conference of the 12th Central Executive Committee on reforming social insurance policies, Resolution 20-NQ/TW on strengthening the work of protecting, caring for and improving people's health in the new situation, contributing to affirming political determination in leading, directing and organizing the implementation of social insurance and health insurance policies; the participation of the entire political and social system from the province to the district; striving towards the goal of social insurance and health insurance for all people...

Accordingly, direct propaganda and mobilization for farmers, craftsmen, freelancers with income, workers who have stopped participating in compulsory social insurance and are reserving their time, and workers in the informal sector. Propaganda about rights and benefits when participating in voluntary social insurance, especially the benefits added in the Social Insurance Law 2024 such as: From July 1, 2025, the number of years of social insurance contributions to receive pension will be reduced from 20 years to 15 years; voluntary social insurance participants will receive maternity benefits with a subsidy of 2 million VND for each child; voluntary social insurance participants will receive monthly subsidies from their contributions and will be issued a health insurance card when they reach retirement age but have not paid for 15 years to receive pension... At the same time, propaganda about the risks of not participating in social insurance and health insurance, thereby changing people's awareness and actions, proactively participating in voluntary social insurance and family health insurance to ensure social security and stabilize life.

In particular, to effectively implement and ensure the economical and efficient use of funds, without ostentation or waste, as directed by the Vietnam Social Security, this year, the Tien Giang Provincial Social Security has developed a plan not to establish a mobile communication team (roadshow parade) as in previous years, but to establish 92 consulting and mobilization teams with 366 participants including: Social Security officers and employees of the Collection Service Organization (with the support of the commune-level government). These teams will go directly to people's homes to propagate and mobilize voluntary social insurance and family health insurance.

Tien Giang Provincial Social Insurance and Provincial Post Office expressed their determination to complete the targets at the launching ceremony.

Maximizing the pioneering, proactive and creative spirit, comrade Vo Khanh Binh hopes that the consulting teams and district units will complete and exceed the target set today, which is to mobilize 970 new people to participate in voluntary social insurance and 1,200 people to participate in family health insurance.

After the launching ceremony, the consulting teams (in My Tho City, Go Cong City, Cai Lay Town and districts) moved to their assigned locations to directly mobilize people to participate in voluntary social insurance and family health insurance.
