Tien Yen has 50% ethnic minorities, the district determined that investment in essential infrastructure will be a "lever" to develop the local socio -economy, especially in communes with a large ethnic minority population.
With the goal of developing synchronous traffic infrastructure, creating connections between communes and creating safety and convenience for people to travel, as well as serving production development activities, Tien Yen district has mobilized resources to implement a number of important traffic projects to connect disadvantaged areas. Typical of these is the project to build, expand, upgrade, and straighten the road connecting the center of Dai Duc commune to the center of the old Dai Thanh commune with a width of 3.5m, a design speed of 30km/h, invested and completed at the end of 2023, with a total investment of over 150 billion VND from the provincial capital. The completed project has created development space for Dai Duc commune, enhanced regional connectivity, served people's traffic and trade, contributed to socio-economic development in the area and ensured national defense and security, rescue and relief when natural disasters occurred.
Ms. Nhi Tai Mui (Dai Duc commune, Tien Yen district) shared: Previously, people's transportation was very difficult because the road from the old Dai Thanh commune to Dai Duc had many dangerous curves and steep slopes. The district's attention and investment in this road has helped people travel conveniently, trade and develop the economy. We are very excited.
To improve the quality of cultural and spiritual life for the people, Tien Yen district has also invested in the construction of Dai Duc Commune Cultural House, associated with San Chi Ethnic Cultural Center. The total investment of the project is over 13 billion VND and has been put into operation since the end of 2022. This is a project to organize cultural activities and physical training with practical significance for the lives of people in Dai Duc highlands.
In the period of 2021-2025, the district has deployed and implemented the construction of 207 projects and infrastructure works in the area; including 90 traffic infrastructure works, 17 domestic water works, 34 irrigation works, 49 cultural works, 2 medical infrastructure works, and 7educational infrastructure works.
In addition, the district mobilized resources to invest in upgrading, renovating and building 30 degraded village and hamlet cultural houses; upgrading Hai Dong High School (Dong Hai commune) to meet national standards level 1 and Tien Yen High School to meet national standards level 2.
Up to now, 100% of the district's main roads, inter-commune roads and village roads have been concreted or asphalted; 11/11 communes have cultural houses or multi-purpose halls and sports grounds; the rate of households in the district using electricity regularly is 99.8%; 94.2% of schools and 100% of commune health stations meet national standards; 95.6% of residential houses meet standards.
With the attention to infrastructure investment, especially in the difficult areas of the locality, coming to Tien Yen today, the appearance of rural areas has changed dramatically. In particular, people's lives have improved significantly, the average income per capita in rural areas reached 74 million VND/year. By the end of 2023, Tien Yen will have no more poor households according to the Central criteria. In 2019, Tien Yen was the first mountainous ethnic district in the North to be recognized as meeting the NTM standards.
