Myriad emotions of first graders in Ho Chi Minh City on their first day of school

(Dan Tri) - On the morning of August 20, first graders in Ho Chi Minh City returned to school for the new school year 2025-2026. On the first day of school, many students were excited, but many others were confused.

On the morning of August 20, thousands of first, ninth and twelfth graders in Ho Chi Minh City officially returned to school, marking the beginning of the new school year after summer vacation.

At Nguyen Binh Khiem Primary School (Sai ​​Gon Ward, Ho Chi Minh City), the atmosphere of the first day of school was bustling from early morning. The teachers and staff of the school were present very early to welcome the students and their parents.

Many parents took time to accompany their children on the first day of school. Mr. Huu Thien shared: "I took a morning off to take my child to school. This is the first day my child begins a new journey, so I want to accompany him."

The 2025-2026 school year is considered a special school year when the education sector operates within the official mechanism of operating two-level local governments (provincial and communal levels) nationwide and reorganizing provinces and cities.

While many students are excited and happy to return to school, many children burst into tears on their first day of school.

Ms. Thu Van gently comforted the children, helping them get used to the new environment.

After many days of summer vacation, some students are still sleepy, but also have very adorable expressions on the first day of school.

To create a joyful atmosphere and help first graders integrate, Nguyen Binh Khiem Primary School organized many exciting activities such as games, comedy shows, circus and interesting gifts.

After the activity, the first graders waved goodbye to their parents, officially starting their new journey. However, there were still some emotional moments when a child burst into tears when saying goodbye to his father to go to class.

This school year, Nguyen Binh Khiem Primary School welcomes 349 first graders, divided into 10 classes, of which 7 classes follow the integrated program.

Outside, many parents still appeared worried, not taking their eyes off their children on the first morning of school.

On the first day, first graders will participate in activities from 7:30 to 10:30. The time for first graders to get acquainted with the learning environment will last until August 29 (in the mornings).
