Prime Minister commends Lai Chau police for breaking up a fraud ring that defrauded more than 8,000 people

(Dan Tri) - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has acknowledged and issued a letter of commendation and commendation for the results and achievements of Lai Chau Provincial Police in the special project to combat property fraud crimes in Cambodia.

On the afternoon of November 30, Lai Chau Provincial Police held a ceremony to announce and award a Letter of Merit from Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to recognize the outstanding achievements of the provincial police in the project to combat fraud and property appropriation crimes on the internet in Cambodia.

Presenting the Prime Minister 's Letter of Merit and congratulating the outstanding achievements of the Provincial Police, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Lai Chau Provincial People's Committee Ha Quang Trung affirmed that this is a respectful recognition of the intelligence, bravery and spirit of serving the people of the provincial police officers and soldiers, and is also the common pride of the Party Committee, government and people of all ethnic groups in Lai Chau province.

Mr. Ha Quang Trung emphasized that the provincial police focus on closely coordinating with the People's Procuracy and the Provincial People's Court to speed up the progress of the case, promptly bring the subjects to strict trial before the law, create deterrence, suppress crime, contribute to recovering assets, promptly remedying consequences, and create people's trust in the law and authorities at all levels.

The provincial police need to continue to promote the spirit of initiative and creativity in grasping the situation, promptly forecasting risks and new tricks of high-tech crimes, building a specialized force in the field of high-tech crime prevention; and expanding international cooperation in the fight against cross-border crimes.

In addition, Lai Chau provincial police have stepped up propaganda and raised legal awareness among people, especially in remote areas and ethnic minority areas, helping people identify fraud tricks and proactively prevent them.

Previously, Lai Chau Provincial Police identified a transnational fraud crime ring operating in a "special zone" owned by Chinese people in Kampot province, Kingdom of Cambodia.

After establishing Project 0525L to combat the criminal organization, on October 28, Lai Chau Provincial Police successfully arrested 59 subjects in the criminal organization led by Sung Thi Mai (26 years old, residing in Bao Thang commune, Lao Cai province) in Bokor city, Kampot province, Kingdom of Cambodia.

At the same time, Lai Chau Provincial Police coordinated with local police to arrest two more suspects in the criminal organization and extradite them to the province to ensure safety.

After a short period of struggle, from October 31 to November 5, the Investigation Police Department of Lai Chau Provincial Police issued a decision to prosecute the case, prosecute the accused, issue an arrest warrant to detain a total of 64 subjects for fraud and property appropriation; hand over 1 subject under 16 years old to family management.

The authorities have identified and clarified the mastermind and leader role of Sung Thi Mai, determining that this group has appropriated more than 300 billion VND from more than 8,000 victims,...
