Speaking at the ceremony, Nguyen Thanh Quang, Director of the Thang Long - Hanoi Heritage Conservation Center, affirmed that Thang Long Imperial Citadel is not only a thousand-year-old cultural heritage site but also preserves many important revolutionary relics associated with the Ho Chi Minh era, including House and Tunnel D67, Tunnel T1, the Cryptography Tunnel, and the Hanoi Flagpole. The opening of these strategic tunnels aims to vividly recreate historical stories, pay tribute to previous generations, and simultaneously awaken patriotism and national pride in the younger generation.
After a period of renovation, the tunnel has been reopened to the public for visits and learning.
Right from the opening morning, many families and students visited the Cryptography Bunker, a structure built during the war against the US, which helped the General Headquarters maintain command and control information during the fierce bombing of Hanoi. Here, visitors can see the working rooms, combat equipment, images of cryptography officers and soldiers, and many valuable secret messages displayed for the first time.
Simultaneously, the exhibition "House and Bunker D67 - The Journey to Complete Victory" also opened with four major themes, clarifying the role of the General Staff during the 1972-1975 period, including the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign.
Many activities commemorating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2nd were also held at Thang Long Imperial Citadel during this period.
According to Associate Professor Tran Duc Cuong, President of the Vietnam Historical Science Association, opening and displaying exhibits at the strategic bunkers affirms the special value of revolutionary relics within Thang Long Imperial Citadel, contributing to the education of patriotic traditions, the spirit of self-reliance and self-improvement, and gratitude to previous generations.
