According to a summary report from November 10th to December 10th, 2025, Tu Du Hospital's second facility received over 5,000 outpatient visits, averaging 255 visits per day. The number of visits increased steadily each week, demonstrating the growing trust of the public in the new medical facility.
Internal medicine, pediatrics, surgery, obstetrics, traditional medicine, ophthalmology, otolaryngology, dermatology, dentistry, etc., have been implemented comprehensively. Common diseases such as hypertension, upper respiratory tract infections, bronchitis, normal pregnancy monitoring, diabetes, etc., account for a high percentage, accurately reflecting the disease pattern in the community and the healthcare needs of the people, as well as the appropriate technical services of the hospital.
According to Associate Professor, Doctor Tang Chi Thuong, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, in its first month of operation, the hospital performed 12 surgeries and 2 normal deliveries, including many important techniques such as: laparoscopic appendectomy, bone fixation surgery, cesarean section, and emergency laparoscopic treatment of ruptured ectopic pregnancy. Many critical obstetric and emergency cases were successfully treated right in Can Gio, saving patients from having to travel far to the city center.
"These results demonstrate the professional competence of the rotating and permanent medical teams at the hospital, and affirm the effectiveness of the multi-specialty collaboration model from the city's tertiary hospitals, bringing high-quality medical services closer to people in remote areas, contributing to ensuring equity in healthcare," Associate Professor, Doctor Tang Chi Thuong emphasized.
In the coming period, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health will continue to direct Tu Du Hospital's second facility to improve its infrastructure, add modern equipment, expand its range of techniques, strengthen human resources, and enhance professional connections, aiming to build it into a modern multi-specialty hospital in Can Gio, better serving the healthcare needs of the people.
After one month of operation, Tu Du Hospital's second facility recorded 92 patient transfers, mainly cases requiring specialized interventions or paraclinical techniques not yet available at the second facility. Compared to before, the rate and severity of patient transfers have decreased significantly, contributing to saving time, costs, and reducing risks during travel for people in coastal and island areas.
