Passionate poetry in everyday life

The poetry collection "Dong doi dang ton niem thuong" (Writers Association Publishing House, 2024) is the result of years of quiet life but full of love and emotion of poet Hong Phuc (real name Dang Vinh Phuc , born in 1950, currently living in Tay Binh commune, Tay Son district; member of the Literature Association, Binh Dinh Literature and Arts Association).

The collection of poems consists of 113 poems, divided into three parts: Endless source of inspiration for love between couples ; Abundant love for the homeland and country ; and Deep affection filled with emotions for relatives, friends and everyday interactions. Going through each part of the poem, readers can easily recognize the rustic, gentle poetic voice; carrying a folk melody but still exuding a unique romanticism. He uses many poetic genres: Luc bat, seven-word poetry, free verse, and even prose poems, all of which are like confidences, whispers to life, to people, to the homeland and to himself.

In the love poetry section, where emotions are let loose between longing and longing, poet Hong Phuc has gentle and poignant verses: Looking at the sky, looking at the earth/ autumn color/ old purple love words/ envelopes from the gate/ golden silk/ drying under the hometown sun/ who can I find/ to remove the love spell you set?! (Love spell). Or in the poem Tron Thuong , he carries a lingering feeling, silently "polishing" a persistent love, patiently looking towards: Now I am still a jade that is not yet green/ sweat soaks the mountains and forests to form a clump/ has your soul ever tilted the waves/ is the tear of love suddenly blooming into a flower!.

Love in Hong Phuc’s poetry is sometimes associated with the hometown river, with the land of memories full of longing. There, the hometown is filled with nostalgia. The fields and rivers are not only lyrical spaces, but also symbols of faithful love, traditional beauty, and endless nostalgia.

In his nostalgic realm, the simplicity of everyday life, memories of friends, and the flow of time are present in his poems with much quietness and contemplation. Sometimes, the sense of homeland and friendship appear through a rhythmic and emotional interweaving: Bamboo banks, sugarcane fields, and rivers/ Embracing the homeland and the mother's lullaby/ Old friends drink to the fullest, cups of hatred/ Drink love, drink up the autumn moon pouring back . (Confessions of a veteran).

Poet Hong Phuc does not seek technical innovations or formalism, but chooses a simple path: Offering life with all the love he has. That is also the message throughout this collection of poems, the crystallization of a quiet but passionate journey with poetry, with love, with his homeland, with everything he cherishes in life.
