Continuing the journey of following President Ho's example.

Over the past 10 years of implementing Directive No. 05-CT/TW of the Politburo, Regiment 971 (under the Da Nang City Military Command) has developed many effective models and innovative approaches in studying and following the ideology, ethics, and style of Ho Chi Minh. In particular, linking the study and emulation of Ho Chi Minh with training, combat readiness, building a regular and disciplined force, and civilian mobilization work has created many noticeable changes.

Building meaningful models

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thanh Trung, Secretary of the Party Committee and Political Commissar of Regiment 971, stated: “We have determined that we must start with ideological work. Every officer, Party member, and soldier needs to clearly understand why they must learn from Uncle Ho, what they are learning for, and how to do it. It shouldn't be imposed or merely a formality, but rather it must awaken intrinsic motivation. Only then will the learning go into depth and become a voluntary action.”

Following President Ho Chi Minh's example, officers and soldiers of Regiment 971 are actively innovating and improving the quality of training.

Besides thematic activities based on annual themes, the Regiment also organizes many diverse activities such as: the seminar "Forever Worthy of the Name of Uncle Ho's Soldiers", the forum "Youth Following Uncle Ho's Teachings", the journey "Reporting Achievements to Uncle Ho", storytelling and essay writing competitions, marches to historical sites, exchanges with veterans, visits to museums and memorial sites dedicated to President Ho Chi Minh ...

Not stopping at propaganda work, Regiment 971 boldly innovated with highly practical models of learning from President Ho Chi Minh, suitable to the unit's characteristics. Among these, the "Zalo Group for Soldiers' Families and Party Committees/Units" model is a prominent highlight. Direct connection between unit commanders and soldiers' relatives through social media has contributed to managing ideology, motivating morale, and creating consensus from family to unit. From 2023 to the present, the unit has not recorded any cases of serious disciplinary violations by soldiers.

In addition, the "3 Together and 3 Not Clinging" model for grassroots cadres has been effectively implemented. Accordingly, cadres at all levels must "eat together, live together, and work together" with soldiers, while simultaneously not "clinging to beds, offices, or telephones." As a result, the bond between cadres and soldiers has been strengthened, camaraderie and fellowship have become increasingly solid, and the role of setting a good example has been genuinely promoted.

In particular, the model combining the evaluation of learning and following President Ho Chi Minh's teachings with monthly party member classification has created a significant improvement in the quality of branch meetings. Regular and continuous evaluation helps to detect problems early, promptly address them, and prevent formalism and superficiality. Practical experience shows that the percentage of party members who excellently complete their tasks has increased significantly after the application of this model.

The regiment also launched many practical emulation movements such as: "A bowl of water on the training ground, accompanying the soldiers," "Flowers on the training ground," "The 100-dong house," "Excellent training, strict discipline, high combat readiness"... These movements not only contributed to enriching the spiritual life but also improved training effectiveness and built a regular and disciplined system throughout the unit.

Regiment 971 strictly maintains the discipline of inspecting records related to Party and political work activities.

Follow through with practical actions.

For officers and soldiers of Regiment 971, studying and following Uncle Ho's teachings is not limited to barracks and training grounds, but also strongly extends to activities assisting the people. Over the years, the Regiment has mobilized tens of thousands of officers and soldiers to participate in disaster prevention, rescue, and relief efforts in Da Nang City and Quang Nam Province. In particular, in forest firefighting, more than 6,000 soldiers have directly participated in key areas of Da Nang City such as Son Tra District, Hai Van Pass, and Hoa Phu commune (Hoa Vang District)...

During the Covid-19 pandemic, the Regiment was one of the frontline forces, ensuring logistics, serving quarantine facilities, and supporting the people with the highest sense of responsibility. These seemingly simple but practical actions are a vivid testament to President Ho Chi Minh's teachings.

The outstanding achievements after 10 years of implementing Directive 05 are: The Regiment's Party Committee has consistently achieved the title of "Clean and Strong" for many years; including 3 years of achieving the title of "Outstanding Clean and Strong" (2015, 2020, 2023). The unit has been honored with numerous emulation flags and certificates of merit from the Command of Military Region 5 and the People's Committee of Da Nang City, becoming a shining example in the patriotic emulation movement of the city's armed forces.

Studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, ethics, and style at Regiment 971 has become a self-driven need, a driving force that awakens the will, courage, and noble qualities of the soldiers of Uncle Ho's army. From simple actions to creative initiatives, the Regiment is continuing to write beautiful chapters in its journey of following Uncle Ho's example, so that each soldier today is always worthy of the trust and love of the Party, the State, and the people.
