Building meaningful models

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thanh Trung, Party Secretary and Political Commissar of Regiment 971, said: “We have determined that we must start with ideological work. Every cadre, party member, and soldier needs to clearly understand why we must study Uncle Ho, what we study for, and how to do it. We must not impose or be formalistic, but must arouse internal motivation. Only then will learning go into depth and become a voluntary action.”

Following Uncle Ho's example, officers and soldiers of Regiment 971 actively innovate and improve training quality.

In addition to thematic activities every year, the Regiment also organizes many diverse activities such as: Talk show "Forever worthy of the name of Uncle Ho's soldiers", Forum "Youth following Uncle Ho's words", journey "Reporting achievements to Uncle Ho", storytelling contests, writing feelings, marching to the source, exchanging with veterans, visiting museums, President Ho Chi Minh memorial area...

Not stopping at propaganda work, Regiment 971 boldly innovated with highly practical models of learning from Uncle Ho, suitable to the characteristics of the unit. In particular, the model of "Zalo group of military families and Party committees and units" is a prominent highlight. The direct connection between unit commanders and soldiers' relatives through social networks has contributed to ideological management, morale encouragement, and consensus creation from families to units. From 2023 to present, the unit has not recorded any cases of soldiers seriously violating discipline.

Along with that, the model of "3 together and 3 no clinging" for the grassroots cadre team has been effectively implemented. Accordingly, cadres at all levels must "eat, live, and work together" with soldiers, and at the same time not "stick to the bed, stick to the office, or stick to the phone". Thanks to that, the bond between cadres and soldiers is strengthened, the comradeship and team spirit is increasingly strong, and the role of setting an example is promoted substantially.

In particular, the model of combining the assessment of learning and following Uncle Ho's teachings with the monthly classification of party members has created a clear change in the quality of party cell activities. Regular and continuous assessment helps to detect problems early, promptly overcome them, and prevent formalism and coping. In practice, the rate of party members completing their tasks excellently has increased significantly after applying this model.

The Regiment also launched many practical emulation movements such as: "Bowl of water on the training ground, accompanying soldiers", "Flowers on the training ground", "100-dong house", "Excellent training unit, strict discipline, high combat readiness"... These movements not only contribute to enriching spiritual life but also improve training efficiency and build regularity in the whole unit.

Regiment 971 strictly maintains the work order of checking the books of Party and political activities.

Follow through with practical actions

For the officers and soldiers of Regiment 971, studying and following Uncle Ho is not only limited to the barracks and training grounds but also spreads strongly in activities to help people. In recent years, the Regiment has mobilized tens of thousands of officers and soldiers to participate in natural disaster prevention, control, and rescue in Da Nang City and Quang Nam Province. In particular, in forest fire fighting, more than 6,000 soldiers have directly participated in key areas of Da Nang City such as: Son Tra District, Hai Van Pass, Hoa Phu Commune (Hoa Vang District)...

During the Covid-19 outbreak, the Regiment was one of the frontline forces, ensuring logistics, serving quarantine, and supporting people with the highest sense of responsibility. Those simple but practical actions are living proof of Uncle Ho's teachings.

Outstanding achievements after 10 years of implementing Directive 05 are: The Regiment Party Committee has achieved the title of clean and strong for many consecutive years; including 3 years of achieving the title of "Typical clean and strong" (2015, 2020, 2023). The unit was honored to receive many emulation flags and certificates of merit from the Military Region 5 Command and the People's Committee of Da Nang City, becoming a bright spot in the patriotic emulation movement of the city's armed forces.

Studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style at Regiment 971 has become an intrinsic need, a driving force to awaken the will, bravery and noble qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers. From simple actions to creative initiatives, the Regiment is continuing to write beautiful pages in the journey of following Uncle Ho's example, so that each soldier today is always worthy of the trust and love of the Party, State and people.
