Delivering a speech at the ceremony, Comrade Nguyen Thi Tuyen, Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, President of the Vietnam Women's Union affirmed that over the past 95 years, the Union has inherited and promoted traditional values combined with innovation and creativity in the new era to build an increasingly strong Union organization, ready to join the whole country in entering a new era.
In the period of 2020-2025, the Vietnam Women's Union always focuses on innovating the content and form of organization and implementation, improving the effectiveness of emulation movements, improving the capacity of staff, strengthening solidarity and cohesion in the organization, arousing the will to strive, the spirit of creativity and creating opportunities for comprehensive development for members and women.
Over the past 5 years, hundreds of thousands of members have received loans for economic development and job creation; over 170,000 women's households have been supported to escape poverty; 110,000 women have been supported to start a business; 660 cooperatives managed by women and more than 10,000 women's cooperatives have been established, making an important contribution to the national startup ecosystem, enhancing the role of women in economic development... In all fields, many exemplary women have appeared, being recognized, rewarded and honored from the grassroots level to the whole country.
The President of the Vietnam Women's Union said that entering a new development stage of the country, the Vietnam Women's Union is committed to closely following the direction of the Party Central Committee, the Politburo, the Secretariat, headed by General Secretary To Lam, to concretize and effectively implement tasks at all levels of the Union, especially tasks on innovation, science and technology development, digital transformation, international integration, supporting women to start businesses, etc.
The Association at all levels will continuously innovate the content and methods of operation in a practical and effective manner, for the development of Vietnamese women; promote the role of a member of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, participate in building a clean and strong Party and political system. The Association will diversify forms of attracting and gathering members, care for women in difficult areas, ethnic minorities in mountainous areas, islands, industrial zones, and disadvantaged women; consolidate and improve the capacity of Association officials, especially at the grassroots level, and improve the quality of members. Continue to innovate and improve the quality of emulation and reward work.
Speaking at the ceremony, General Secretary To Lam affirmed that the Party and State have always been consistent in promoting substantive gender equality, expanding opportunities for women to participate in leadership, administration, entrepreneurship, scientific research, etc. However, the policy will only truly come into life when there is a mass movement, creative approaches, concrete, measurable and replicable results. That is the mission of the Vietnam Women's Union in the new era.
Suggesting key directions and tasks, the General Secretary said that this is a "strategic breakthrough" of the Vietnamese women's movement for the period 2025-2035, with a vision to 2045. Orienting the building of Vietnamese women in the new era: Patriotic - Independent - Courageous - Humane - Intelligent - Creative - Responsible - Talented - Green, the General Secretary suggested that it must be specified by behavioral standards, by training programs according to age and career groups; connecting the "Sister-Sister" network, consulting and guiding so that every woman has a support for lifelong learning. Making reading culture, digital culture, personal financial skills, and mental health become regular content of the Association.
Orienting to upgrade the movement of building a family of “5 no, 3 clean” to “5 no, 3 clean, 3 safe”, the General Secretary clearly stated that 3 safe means safety - peace of mind - social security. Safety means no violence, no abuse; peace of mind means schools, hospitals, digital spaces friendly to women and children; social security means childcare services, elderly care, micro-insurance, and charitable credit. Each province has at least 2-3 “Safe houses for women and children” connected to 24/7 hotlines; each commune and ward has a community care service model with women as the core.
At the same time, deploy the movement "Each woman - a basic digital skill; each Association - a practical digital service"; develop friendly Association applications, connect public services, social security, legal advice, start-ups; support women to sell online, participate in e-commerce platforms; train a core force of women start-ups, women in digital management; connect preferential credit, technology transfer...
The General Secretary emphasized that taking care of preschool education, nutrition, and early child development is a strategic priority to improve labor productivity and population quality. Protecting women and children from gender-based violence, human trafficking, and high-tech crimes. Detecting, training, and employing female cadres; increasing the proportion of women participating in leadership and management at all levels, especially at the grassroots level. Building a safe, healthy, and culturally rich environment; honoring Vietnamese ao dai, culinary arts, and traditional crafts kept by women; preserving the Vietnamese language, family traditions, and etiquette.
Orienting to strengthen international integration, the General Secretary said it is necessary to expand connections to exchange experiences on social security, gender equality, start-ups, digital and green transformation; enhance the voice of Vietnamese women in regional and global forums. Along with that, strongly innovate the Association's operating methods towards staying close to the grassroots, relying on data, measuring impact; shifting from "spread support" to "problem-based solutions"; increasing orders, assigning tasks based on results; replicating good models.
The General Secretary proposed launching an emulation movement in the new term with the theme: "Vietnamese Women: Aspiration - Intelligence - Compassion - Creativity - Sustainability - Happiness" . Each level of the Union, each sector, each locality registers clear targets, specific "emulation projects", with timelines, measures, responsible persons, and social monitoring mechanisms. Party committees, authorities, the Fatherland Front, organizations, the business community and the whole society continue to pay attention, create conditions and closely coordinate with the Vietnam Women's Union; focus on perfecting policies on female labor, maternity, care services, creating a safe working environment, promoting a culture of respect for women.
The General Secretary affirmed his belief that the Vietnam Women's Union will continue to innovate, be creative, and take drastic and effective actions, deserving to be a trusted address for women nationwide; a strong bridge between the Party and the people; a common home of love and responsibility; the origin of movements rich in vitality, humanity and effectiveness.
At the ceremony, General Secretary To Lam awarded the First Class Labor Medal to the Vietnam Women's Union for its outstanding achievements in innovating the content and methods of operation, performing well the representative function of caring for and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of women, contributing to the cause of building socialism and defending the Fatherland.
Comrade Do Van Chien, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and Comrade Nguyen Thi Thanh, Party Central Committee member, Vice President of the National Assembly presented the 2025 Vietnamese Women's Awards to 3 groups. Comrade Nguyen Van Nen, Politburo member, Standing member of the 14th Party Congress Document Subcommittee and Comrade Nguyen Thi Tuyen, Party Central Committee member, President of the Vietnam Women's Union presented the 2025 Vietnamese Women's Awards to 12 outstanding individuals.
Recognizing typical advanced collectives and individuals representing thousands of exemplary women in the emulation movement of women nationwide in the period (2020-2025), the Central Presidium of the Vietnam Women's Union decided to award Certificates of Merit to 81 collectives and 255 typical individuals in various fields.
