The event of turning off the lights for one hour in response to the Earth Hour Campaign 2024 will take place from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 23 with the message "Saving electricity - make it a habit". Through the event, the community is called to raise awareness of saving electricity, saving energy, fighting climate change and protecting the environment for sustainable development.

Hoa Binh City Electricity staff propagate and recommend to customers solutions to save electricity.

Earth Hour is an international event launched and organized by the International Union for Conservation of Nature to raise public awareness of climate change and energy saving worldwide . Over the years, activities responding to the Earth Hour campaign have contributed to raising awareness of electricity saving among people in the province.

For a long time, Mr. Nguyen Van Dieu's family, group 10, Tan Thinh ward (Hoa Binh city) has been particularly interested in saving electricity. Accordingly, every time buying appliances such as televisions, refrigerators, induction cookers, air conditioners, etc., one of the first selection criteria that Mr. Dieu's family is interested in is whether the appliance has an energy-saving label according to the regulations of the Ministry of Industry and Trade . In addition, to keep electrical appliances operating stably, he regularly cleans and maintains them to both save electricity and increase the life of the equipment. In particular, Mr. Dieu's family has formed the habit of turning off all switches and plugs of electrical appliances every time they leave the house to avoid wasting energy. "Using electricity economically will help my family save on monthly electricity bills. In addition, every family that uses electricity economically will contribute to ensuring energy security and combating global climate change," Mr. Dieu emphasized.

Truong Thinh drinking water and ice production facility in Huu Nghi ward (Hoa Binh city) was established and put into operation nearly 5 years ago. On average, the facility produces over 5 tons of ice and 1,000 water bottles per month, consuming about 4,000 kWh of electricity. According to Mr. Nguyen Truong Thinh, the owner of the facility, the monthly costs to maintain production and business activities include: electricity, water, and labor costs. In particular, reducing electricity costs is very important. Therefore, the facility has chosen an automatic machinery system and equipment with energy-saving technology (inverter). At the same time, the facility's production hours are regulated during off-peak hours (from 10pm to 4am the next morning). By doing this, the facility can reduce electricity costs by 50% each month.

It can be seen that forming the habit of using electricity economically has brought practical benefits to people, production facilities and businesses. Adjusting production hours, replacing old equipment and machinery or good habits in using electricity are the goals that the Earth Hour campaign aims for. According to Hoa Binh Electricity Company, in the past 2 years, after one hour of turning off the lights in response to Earth Hour, the amount of electricity saved in the province is estimated at over 3,900 kWh. With the Earth Hour Campaign in 2024, these days, the Electricity industry has been promoting propaganda and instructing customers on how to use electricity economically.

Hoa Binh City Electricity currently supplies electricity to over 52,000 customers. In addition to efforts to ensure stable and safe electricity supply, promoting propaganda on energy saving is identified by the unit as one of the top important tasks. Comrade Dinh Thang Loi, Deputy Director of Hoa Binh City Electricity, said: Every year, the unit carries out many activities to promote and change people's awareness of energy saving, as well as to replicate typical examples and good practices in energy saving and efficiency. With the Earth Hour Campaign in 2024, we call on customers to continue to respond to the event of turning off the lights, as well as forming habits of energy saving, because every small action such as turning off electrical equipment when not in use has brought great significance.

Let's turn off the lights together from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm on March 23, 2024 to respond to the Earth Hour Campaign. Above all, every day, simply by remembering to turn off devices when not in use, your family will save on electricity costs, contribute to saving energy, protecting the environment and fighting global climate change.
