Pigs infected with African swine fever were destroyed in Thuan My village, Tu My commune.

On the afternoon of July 24, 2025, a herd of 20 pigs belonging to Mr. Nguyen Huu Nam's family (Thuan Ly village, Tu My commune) fell ill with symptoms including sickness, fever, loss of appetite, and red skin rashes. Immediately after receiving the information, the local authorities notified the Huong Son Center for Application of Science and Technology and Protection of Plants and Animals to conduct inspections and collect samples for testing from the affected pigs.

After the Regional Veterinary Department 3 confirmed positive results for African swine fever, on the afternoon of July 25, 2025, Tu My commune directed specialized agencies to proceed with the destruction of the pigs according to regulations and guided Mr. Nguyen Huu Nam's family to organize disinfection and sterilization to prevent the spread of the disease.

The total number of pigs infected with the disease that had to be culled in Tu My commune to date is 74.

According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nam, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Tu My commune: As of August 4, 2025, the entire commune has experienced outbreaks of African swine fever in 11 households. A total of 74 infected pigs, weighing 5,039 kg, had to be culled.
