Forecasts indicate that a severe heatwave is likely to occur in Hanoi , the Northern Delta, and North Central Vietnam at the end of May 2026, with temperatures exceeding 37°C.

In addition, according to forecasts from the National Center for Hydrometeorology, El Nino (a weather pattern that increases the risk of drought and many extreme weather events) has a 95% probability of returning from June, leading to increased heatwaves, higher temperatures, and unpredictable extreme weather events in the summer of 2026.

This also means that electricity consumption may continue to remain high, making energy-saving practices a necessary part of daily life.

Vietnam Electricity Corporation will closely coordinate with the National Power System and Market Operator to ensure a safe, stable, and continuous electricity supply.
