One of the content of attacks between idol fan groups on social networks.
"Old without love"
TikTok has proven to be “superior” to previous social networks because it “pleases” its users. Whether the user is elderly or young, this social networking platform has content suggestions.
“Grandpa Xi…” is one of the most searched accounts on TikTok. The clips posted by this account are very silly and noteducational : Sometimes the main character in the clip has white hair, wears home clothes and dances to background music; sometimes he repeats a trend that is popular on social networks with the affirmation “Grandpa Xi… will conquer any trend, no need to say much”.
On this platform, many old people are also the main characters for TikTok account owners to "grab followers", including an old man nearly 100 years old, appearing in clips cursing to entertain viewers; some clips suggest old people telling stories about their youth to make people laugh in a bland, tasteless way.
Using elderly characters in clips is nothing new, but putting them in the background with young music and dancing and childish expressions is not appropriate.
Notably, although the content creators are very old, the viewers are anyone, of any age. Therefore, a lot of offensive content, not constructive or educational, appears everywhere.
Swearing and showing off on TikTok
There is no other social media platform where idols openly curse and boycott each other (anti-fans) as openly and directly as on TikTok. There is no need to use euphemisms or euphemisms, groups use vulgar words or innuendos to "bring down" each other.
One group that claims to be fans of Ngoc Matcha posted a clip calling for a boycott of the group Blackpink; the Hero team also confronted BTS and Blackpink. The lyrics inserted into this clip were distorted to be “This world is mine”. Similarly, the group that claims to be fans of Gay Media also attacked the Hero team…
There are accounts that challenge other idols' fans: "If you can't be nice, then get lost. Don't make your dad boycott you from human society."
I don't understand the real purpose of these clips, but most likely, this is a battle for fans, competing for the number of followers to become famous on social networks, from there they become more famous and earn more money from social networks.
Similarly, people who call themselves internet gangsters have just appeared and raised their voices on TikTok to show off and challenge other groups. This content does not have any restrictions on viewers. Users just need to click on the search box, a series of similar clips will appear.
Gruesome content that stimulates children's curiosity is rampant on TikTok.
Flooded with harmful content for children
Although TikTok has increased safety and privacy features for teens and the platform has an age limit of 13, TikTok does not actually prevent underage users from viewing videos .
Users do not need to prove they are at least 13 years old to view publicly posted videos on the platform. Publicly posted videos show all of a user's public content worldwide. On the other hand, the platform does not label content that is restricted to children.
A 10-year-old TikTok user said: “When setting up an account last year, users who were born in 2012 (ie 10 years old) were successfully set up, but 2013 was limited. However, if users used email confirmation or logged in with Facebook when setting up, there would be no age limit.”
Viewers can easily see clips of dancing, wriggling, and lip-syncing posted by young users, even children.
According to this user, the trending content that is followed by many young users is the account: Tran Quang H. In which, there is a clip posted by the account owner enticing My (a character in the clip who is a child) to smoke pod (a type of electronic cigarette); encouraging My to dye her hair...
Some other accounts such as: Go with Ha… "convey the experience" of running away from home at a young age, what to bring? Dao Xuan M.'s account promotes the deviant lifestyle of young people when posting gender-related content such as: "LGBT is not accepted by parents and the journey of running away from home to live independently"? "What is it like to run away from home at 13 years old"?...
In addition, content about ghosts and superstitions such as: things to avoid doing at night to avoid encountering ghosts; My child was captured by a ghost; spirit possession clips… are also watched by many curious children.
Some other child users also believed the story of Phan Duy M (A2) account when the male character in the clips often showed off piles of money in front of him and promised to give it to a certain follower.
Because they do not have full awareness, many children believe and follow even though the information has not been verified. Clips that promote the "ego" of the individual are very well received and followed by many children, causing the thinking and actions of many children to deviate.
Ms. Hoang Minh Anh (a parent whose child plays TikTok) said: "TikTok makes my child passionate, not wanting to chat with family members but always taking every opportunity to log into this social network.
I am often exposed to negative and horrifying content. Many days I talk about gender deviation, about running away from home or being scared, not daring to stay home alone, always thinking there are ghosts in my house. My parents and adults explain but I don't believe. TikTok is really harmful to children"!
Cybersecurity expert Vu Ngoc Son, Technical Director of Vietnam National Cybersecurity Technology Company (NCS), said that many children who do not have TikTok accounts also take advantage of watching from adult accounts. “The risk of toxicity to children is very high,” said Mr. Vu Ngoc Son.
