Thai Thi Thao was born on February 12, 1995, in Nghe An, into a family with no sporting tradition.

Midfielder Thai Thi Thao started her career as a futsal player for small and semi-professional clubs. Thanks to her impressive performances for these teams, in 2010, Thao was called up to train with Hanoi FC.

Through dedicated training, both physically and professionally, Thảo has gradually become an important player in Hanoi's style of play since officially joining the first team in 2014.

Despite being a prominent midfielder for Hanoi FC, Thai Thi Thao had not yet had the opportunity to play for the national team. It wasn't until 2018 that the player born in 1995 finally donned the national team jersey.

At the 2019 AFF Cup, Thao was entrusted with the central midfield position by coach Mai Duc Chung. The player from Nghe An province performed very well in his role and even scored two goals.

In 2022, Thao tore her anterior cruciate ligament in her knee during a training session in Quang Ninh. The injury forced Thai Thi Thao to miss the 31st SEA Games on home soil. Fortunately, Thao's recovery went smoothly, and she returned to the Vietnamese women's national team to participate in the 32nd SEA Games.
