On May 17th (local time), the 79th Cannes Film Festival entered its sixth day, welcoming a host of stars from around the world . Yoona, the popular South Korean actress and idol, was among them.

Yoona attended the premiere of Jeanne Herry's film Garance (English title: Another Day ). She was invited as the global ambassador for the luxury jewelry brand Qeelin.

For her second appearance at Cannes, the SNSD member wore a white strapless gown with a flowing, princess-like design. Diamond jewelry, her flowing brown hair, and light, natural makeup helped the 1990-born beauty shine on the red carpet. Many even praised Yoona for looking like a radiant and beautiful bride.

On social media platform X, many impressive images of Yoona were shared. People also pointed out the elegant and sweet appearance of the actress from *The K2*, challenging the "harsh lens" of Getty Images.

However, not every moment of Yoona at the Cannes Film Festival was glamorous. Many videos circulating on social media show her being repeatedly reprimanded, and even chased away, on the red carpet.

When red carpet staff approached to urge her on, Yoona would smile or nod as if she understood. However, she would only take a few steps before stopping to pose. This led to her being "asked" to leave several times. On such occasions, an Asian woman would help Yoona fend off the staff.

Some netizens commented that this was an embarrassing situation for the actress born in the 1990s. According to some opinions, Yoona's wearing a rather bulky dress and frequently stopping to take photos could cause congestion on the red carpet, affecting the rights of other guests.

Despite being a big name in South Korea, Yoona was relatively unknown at Cannes. She wasn't on the VVIP list like Demi Moore, Gong Li, or a member of the jury, which granted her the privilege of nearly three minutes to pose on the Cannes red carpet. Instead, even lingering for just a few dozen seconds resulted in Yoona being reminded to move.

This isn't the first time Yoona has been in this situation. In 2024, when she first attended the Cannes Film Festival, the "nation's first love" was also reminded by organizers for moving too slowly on the red carpet stairs. Despite this, she still tried to turn her head and interact with the cameras. In the end, Cannes staff had to personally "escort" the beautiful actress into the movie theater.

At the time, the female employee who dismissed Yoona was attacked by netizens. They accused her of racist behavior towards the Korean beauty and several other Black celebrities.

Those involved have not commented on the commotion. However, according to a security officer with 20 years of experience, the female officer's actions were appropriate and in line with her duties, aimed at preventing a crowd from gathering and ensuring the event ran smoothly.
