The bond between soldiers and civilians in the areas devastated by floods.

In mid-December, the people and orphaned and disabled children in the flood-stricken areas of Hue City and Ha Tinh Province were deeply moved to receive practical and meaningful gifts, reflecting the solidarity between the military and the people, from the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense.

With a spirit of community cohesion, a strong will to overcome difficulties, and the care, support, and sharing from the Army and all levels and sectors, the people of the central provinces and cities are gradually overcoming the difficult period and stabilizing their lives.

Around noon, the weather was cold and rainy. Officials, staff, and orphaned and congenitally disabled children from the Ha Tinh Orphanage (Ha Tinh Provincial Department of Health) gathered in the hall to welcome the delegation from Song Thu Corporation (General Department of Defense Industry) who came to visit and present gifts of support from the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense .

Representatives of Song Thu Corporation presented gifts of support from the Central Military Commission - Ministry of National Defense to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ha Tinh province.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong, Deputy Director in charge of the Ha Tinh Orphanage, said: “The unit is currently caring for and nurturing 106 orphaned children, including 34 with congenital disabilities and severe paralysis. At the end of October, due to heavy rain and flooding, many facilities and structures of the Orphanage were completely damaged. Immediately after the rain stopped and the water receded, the Ha Tinh Provincial Military Command deployed dozens of officers, soldiers, and militia members to assist in the repairs. On the eve of the New Year 2026, we are very grateful and moved by the attention, encouragement, and donation of 150 gifts including milk and dried food worth nearly 100 million VND from the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense. Each gift, in addition to its material value, also has great spiritual significance for these disadvantaged and unfortunate children.”

Late in the afternoon, under a torrential rain, 2,150 gifts from the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense were delivered by soldiers from Song Thu Corporation to wounded soldiers, relatives of martyrs, and people in difficult circumstances who were severely affected and suffered losses due to floods in Thach Khe and Dong Tien communes (Ha Tinh province); and Chan May-Lang Co commune and Thuy Xuan ward ( Hue province ). In the face of the suffering and losses experienced by the flood victims, on behalf of the delegation, Colonel Trinh Minh Hai, Deputy General Director of Song Thu Corporation, offered heartfelt condolences, encouragement, and expressed deep sympathy to each household. Colonel Trinh Minh Hai stated: “The timely attention, support, and encouragement from the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense to the people in the flood-affected areas demonstrate the spirit of mutual assistance, the tradition of solidarity, and the close bond between the Army and the people; contributing to sharing difficulties and supporting the people in gradually stabilizing and rebuilding their lives. Therefore, when authorized and assigned by the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense to visit and encourage the people, the unit developed a plan and proactively contacted and coordinated with the Party committees and authorities of the localities to ensure that the gift distribution took place quickly, conveniently, fairly, and to the right recipients.”

According to leaders of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ha Tinh province and Hue city, the floods in late October and early November in the locality caused dozens of deaths and hundreds of injuries; economic damage is estimated at over 20,000 billion VND. The compassion and sharing of the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense, and the soldiers of Song Thu Corporation are a driving force, giving strength to help people quickly stabilize their lives and restore production.

In Chan May-Lang Co commune, after distributing gifts, knowing that war invalid Tran Huu Bao (78 years old, residing in An Cu Dong 1 village) could not come to the commune's People's Committee to receive the gifts because he was ill, the delegation asked local officials to take him to visit Mr. Bao. In his small house, recently renovated with financial and labor support from the military after Typhoon No. 10, Mr. Bao emotionally said: “A few years ago, I unfortunately had a traffic accident that left me almost completely blind, making everything very difficult. However, whenever the military comes to Chan May-Lang Co, I always ask my children and grandchildren to take me to the commune's People's Committee so I can chat and confide in the soldiers. Over the years, thanks to the care of the Party, the State, and the local Party committee and government, the lives of us war invalids and sick soldiers have improved significantly. I will share the gifts I received today with other disadvantaged households in the village.”

Welcoming the visiting soldiers, Ho Hoang Mai (7 years old, a second-grade student at Thuy Xuan Primary School) and her friends at the SOS Children's Village Hue enthusiastically shared joyful stories about school and class. During the past school year, thanks to the care and guidance of the teachers and caregivers at the SOS Children's Village Hue, many children have made significant progress in their studies, becoming good children and excellent students. In a friendly conversation, Colonel Trinh Minh Hai and the members of the delegation praised the children's efforts, hoping they would continue to be well-behaved and excel in their studies so that they could become useful citizens with stable and happy lives in the future.

Leaving Thuy Xuan commune late at night, the firm handshakes and affectionate farewells from the local people made everyone in the delegation feel reluctant to leave. In the cold winter wind, the bond between the military and the people, the solidarity among the people, grew even stronger and more enduring.
